Britain and Italy What about France

I know some time ago they said that Italy and Britain would probably become their own Factions at some point, But something else that’s also conspicuously absent from the game of course is anything French.

I don’t know why they wouldn’t do this make other factions especially from a marketing standpoint they could generate more money that way…

Personally I’m still really hoping for something separate for Italy and something separate for Britain It makes the history geek in me a bit twitchy when they start labeling all this British kit as American and vice versa…

Devs never said that. In fact they said they have no plans at all separate britain and italy from usa and germany

Well that sucks major balls

And here I was living in hope for all these years

I guess maybe I can still hope that we’ll actually get a system that allows us to pick which maps we want to actually fight on at some point

There’s no point in making standalone faction from nation that lost in 2 weeks. And then was splitted as irl subfaction into allies and germany.

Not to mention it would only cripple the MM even harder.

This is the best approach. Splitting nations would be a bad idea since it would create additional queues, there is no guarantee italy or britain would even be popular and it would remove the possibility of mixed loadouts. It would also require a ton of work from devs that can barely add couple guns and small map changes every major update. Something this big is simply unrealistic with the current skeleton crew

France fought on and off throughout the entire war though, She would continue to fight and lose in places like Syria Madagascar and French North Africa as Vichy.

And Free French forces fought throughout the war as well and during the end of the war and the campaign in France and into Germany there were hundreds of thousands of French troops fighting.

And everybody used French equipment really throughout the war to varying degrees of effectiveness.

Even at the end of the war a lot of the equipment in the French army in 44-45 was original French equipment.

France would use equipment from America and Britain particularly tanks and aircraft as the war progressed to replace the more early war types that were obsolete.

That’s what I have said.

Btw. Basically all European countries that lost to Germany had exile governments and thought exactly in same same manner as France.

It’s completely irrelevant. Neither of them, including France, are seperate factions materials.

I don’t see how it could be possibly bad to split the nations into their respective countries britain and America for example would basically just fight in the same matches there wouldn’t be any matchmaking problems, In fact it could probably help the feel of realism to remove British forces from Pacific islands which always annoys the hell out of me.

And Italy fought in North Africa and in Russia so they would be using mostly the same matches The only thing that would be excluded from in theory would be the bulge and Normandy…

But given this game’s conspicuous lack of adherence to anything even remotely resembling historical accuracy I doubt that that would stop them.

So since matchmaking would essentially be the same for the life of me I can’t see why this wouldn’t be good for them because it would enable them to generate more income…

Not exactly the same way because the French Had their own industrial base producing aircraft tanks planes ships etc And most of those other European countries the Allied or Axis miners however you want to say it didn’t really rely to the same extent on their own war material.

6 weeks actually and also had its own disastrous invasion of Germany which was so unsuccessful that its almost completely forgotten.
All the French army´s shortcomings were fully evident during the Saar offensive but French command didnt even attempt to fix them.

Anyway Battle France did make it into squad 44 so I guess that is not as interesting to add, though all the necessary maps and weapons are in the game for a potential event/mod, we just need uniforms.

In terms of equipment, France can actually live without copy paste on the rifle, SMG, pistol and MG lines (ok maybe 1-2 copies, it is hard to replace the M1 carbine and M1912 shotgun).

In terms of AT, France is a bit forced to use copy paste. Though it could bring the 37mm Nivert grenade laucher for low tier AT power. Then it is 100% copy paste.

Tank wise copy paste starting at sherman level.

Plane wise, its actually ok (basing myself on WT BR system) for most of the tree. If the MB 157/SO 157 or a VG-39 get green lighted, there’s no need for US fighters until BR V

I would understand just foldering all that to the allies TT. No one might say no to more weapons. Problem is that it might be too overbearing with folders at this point

The issue with France is that, sure BR1-2 could be viable as they had quite a lot of different equipment at the start of the war, many of them actually being in the game (MAS-36, MAS-38…) but past that they did not build any new weapons because… well because the country was mostly occupied.

And while I would love to see Free French troops, they would mostly be reskinned British for 1940-1943 and reskinned Americans from 1944-45… Basically not enough to make a full TT without including 90% copy pasta past BR2.

Also, British are parts of the Western Allies ingame, sure I would love to see more content for them, but as an individual faction ? No. So same apply to the french.

Just in terms of SMGs that were in service you have the STA 1924 and the small production series of MAS 33, MAS35, ETVS and SACM (and a few prototype like the Delacre and other 9mm that are prefectly viable. And you have the Chauchat-Ribeyrolles Tank SMG to top it (the 20 rounds one)

Rifles ? Just dont stop at the MAS-36, you have perfectly fine MAS 28-31 and the different flavours of MAS 28, SE-MAS 38-39 and MAS-40 to just not stop at the A6. Even the top M2 carbine has an equivalent in the ribeyrolles 1918 and the FM SE-MAS 40 which is an modification of the MAS 28-31 for automatic fire. And the ENT B1 can be the french AVT-40.

MG line ? same. Use the field mod for the MAC 31 (aka the 150 drum round one with FM 24/29 bipod) as a top, the rest is actually easy to fill in.

I did point out shotguns were hard to fill in.

I acknowledged the AT line was harder to fill.
The tank line was also acknowledge to be difficult from the first sherman onward
The plane line is actually ok bar BR V.

Overall interms of infantry (90% of gameplay), the tree is quite viable on its own.
Though as stated, i do understand wanting to folder most of it under allies.
