We’ve been seeing a lot of things being implemented for “infantry” in general. Explosive packs and White Phosphorus are the two biggest examples currently.
With explosive packs, there is no longer a need in most cases for AT troops. RARELY are AT troops used in comparison to explosive packs in order to take out tanks. Even AT MINES are rarely used in comparison. Other tanks, aircraft bombs, field guns, etc. are OPTIONS, yet explosive packs are used the most because any infantry can carry them.
White phosphorus essentially gives the power of a flamethrower to infantry in the form of a grenade. (Don’t get me wrong, flamethrowers are still strong.) Though now we have the issue where many players are opting to just take generalized infantry squads like assaulter and riflemen, and loading up on WP.
Even mortars have been made pretty much obsolete because of radio operators that can be accessed in nearly every squad type.
Engineers put up fortifications, and are required to consume limited material they have to do so. Yet ALL infantry are simply allowed to break down those fortifications at no cost.
My SUGGESTIONS:
-
Only allow explosive packs for AT soldiers.
-
Introduce “Sappers” as a sort of offensive engineer. Give them access to minesweepers in secondary weapon slot, bangalore torpedos in mine slot to clear fortifications.
-
Only allow engineers to break down fortifications by hand.
-
Remove WP from inventory. Have certain areas of the map that it can spawn on a crate like the Ni05 on Pacific. This way it is greatly reduced on how much it is used (as from what I’ve heard, its “too difficult” to make it where it doesn’t go through walls".
-
Rework mortar squads to enable the use of 2 mortars at once since 2 mortarmen exist within the squad.
-
In the future, let specialists BE special, rather than handing something of similar value to generalized infantry that makes the specialist obsolete.
