The F8F Bearcat was designed after the Battle of Midway. It was realized that an aircraft’s rate of climb was extremely important, so it was decided to use the same Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial used on the earlier F6F Hellcat, but in a lighter airframe, capable of greater speed and climb rate. This came at the cost of range and armour for the pilot; the aircraft also featured a bubble canopy for all-around visibility. However, the fighter was developed too late for WWII. After the war, the introduction of naval jet aircraft like the F2H Banshee forced its early retirement; however, some of these fighters were used by France in Indochina against Viet Minh troops.

The F4U-1C was among one of the rarest variants of the F4U Corsair, with only ~200 made, and was the first Corsair to be armed with cannons. The 1C was essentially an F4U-1D with 4 x 20 mm Hispano guns and gave the aircraft a more potent armament against ground targets and aircraft. As good as the guns seemed on paper, in practice it was very different. American pilots found the guns unreliable and excessive against the lightly armoured Japanese aircraft. Many pilots preferred the M2 Browning machine guns due to their large ammo pool and reliability. Although the new guns made the F4U-1C more deadly, they came at the price of hampering performance with added weight.

Well he is spamming more then understanding what he is suggesting. F4U-1C was in the TT for a very long time it was BR IV even.

I’d be down with another version of it with bombs if they never give us payload options. Maybe even one with 50 cals and bombs so it’s a bit more unique to what we have in TT. Also br4 please. No need for any more br5 fighters right now

There not br4 fighters according to emperor
I meant to put the 4b in
Also not single engine American fighter that has the guns to deal with the j2m3 and no 6 50 cals ain’t ut

But this thing was BR IV for a very long time I don’t know why they changed it to BR V when there is literally no BR IV fighter in the TT. It was very good at BR IV.

I have no issue with anything being any br as long as it has a legitimate analogue, hell I’d be up to boost the j2m3 and or move it to br4 depending on the br if the Corsair

The us balances gun and bombs/rockets but
Cannons end up in sluggish twin engine planes
And as great as the 50 cal is it’s not a one for one trade with 20 and 30mm cannons ww2 proved it 2 for one sure not one for one

Please start including suspended armament in your posts for aircraft.

And why is that.

i was trying to m,ake a counter to the j2m3 not make more br5 fighters the us does not need

I’m confused. The j2m3 is br5 right now no? The TT corsair has 4x 20mm cannons. Exactly what you’re asking for.

Because we have meteor, f80, tempest, corsair, and f7f? I really thought it was an attacker but it’s listed as fighter in spreadsheet.

We have very capable planes already, none will get used when compared to jets.

Future proofing

The current TT one very well could be downtiered as well at some point.

That’s true… should have assumed you were specifically talking about US… I agree.
