Like why is this still not a thing? its been ages since br1/2/3 tanks got their functional hull mg’s but high br tanks like the IS series the super pershing or the tiger series are still not functional. Whats the hold up?

Never really did make sense why they drip feed the usability of hull MGs when it seems like a rather simple thing to do. Having it work on every tank would be nice.
The IS tanks don’t have hull MGs like T34s, just the coax DTs.

I think they’re like, stationary MGs meant to scare off people, no? Aa in they can’t move
Let’s take a step back. What would happen if armor protection were added for these gunner positions? Players are already frustrated with the issue of Japanese tanks inheriting hull armor.
Before this mechanic was adjusted, this crew member could act as a second loader. Now, once the commander gets killed, nobody can take over this station. The crewman simply occupies a crew slot and will only switch to the driver’s role when only two crew members are left alive. The current state is really problematic.
Unless the developers at DF set the loader’s crew priority above the machine gunner’s, I think this adjustment will be extremely underwhelming and even a net negative change.
On a side note, the IS series tanks still lack proper models for hull machine guns in War Thunder, so this content is clearly low priority. In addition, IS tanks have a four-man crew. Historically, the driver also doubled as the hull machine gunner
