yes
The second and last sources are rather poor; it seems the author is confusing a competition from the 1930s with one from the 1940s. All known Type Ko rifles were made in 6.5mm caliber; the last order, as far as I remember, was in 1937, for eight (four short and four long). The rifles were supplied with bipods and optical sights.
It shouldn’t fit, since the Type Ko rifle (like the Type Hei and Type Ostsu rifles) was made several years before the Type 97 scope was introduced. The only scope Japan had at the time was the experimental Type 5 scope, which was undergoing military trials in Northern Manchuria (it was intended for the experimental Type 38 sniper rifles). Also, the mounts for the Type 38 sniper rifles and the Type Otsu and Type Ko rifles are very similar, so I’m sure the Type 5 scopes should fit the 1930s-era semi-automatic rifles.
Thats why im not sure why they say it wont fit the regular one specially this variant since it was used in Okinawa:
But really thats the most realistic semi auto for Japan since it was intended to have a scope and its not even on a single rifle but on multiple rifles of the Ko Type I dont know what the devs are waiting and not giving us a semi auto with scope.
And also here they have a chart that shows they had Pedersen Variant in 7.7 :
While the original Pedersen is 7×51mm:
Prototype A | leader | 6.5 | 1160 | 4.3 | 750 | 3500 | 1100 | circularfixedmagazine | 10 | Single | About 30 | Reactionary use |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
short | 6.5 | 1070 | --- | 740 | ||||||||
Prototype B | leader | 6.5 | 1160 | 4.3 | 750 | 3500 | 1100 | Box magazine | 5 | Single | About 30 | gas recoil |
short | 6.5 | 1060 | --- | 740 | 10 | |||||||
Pettersen | leader | 7.7 | 1117 | 4.0 | 820 | 2500 | 1000 | Bullet Frame | 10 | Single | 25 to 50 | recoilbarrelfixed |
short | 7.7 | 1068 | 3.85 | 820 |
So the different prototypes have interesting prototype B it states it has box magazine 5 or 10 and its gas operated. Maybe its this one:
That can be our BR IV weapon its 7.7 and it has detachable box mag. Or that’s the B ? And the one at the bottom also it states its a faithful copy of the Pedersen so im not sure which one is the Pedersen 7.7 ? Or its some other rifle that 7.7 ?
This must be the 7.7 rifle it was in two versions short and long and it was recoilbarrelfixed:
Japanese Army Pedersen Copy Trials Rifle
so this is the recoilbarrelfixed with 10 rounds according to the chart 7.7 rifle is recoilbarrelfixed while the other Ko rifle is Reactionary use:
Japanese Pedersen Rifle - YouTube
So I think I got it the early(Pedersen version) version of type Ko rifle that was recoilbarrelfixed 7.7 was actually loaded like a M1 Garand (however you put two strippers instead of one) while the other Rifle 6.5 is loaded like a Johnson Rifle like the Ko version we have in game.
Great work
As long as it’s not a 6.5mm Arisaka bullet.
Certainly, low-power ones are fatal, so they are not good for sniping.
I’m looking for a semi-automatic rifle that uses a 7.7mm Arisaka bullet, and I couldn’t find it except for Type 4.
To be honest, They buff Type.4 tremendously (such as reloading speed and dispersion), and I think I’d better add ZH-29 as well since there is no 7.7mm box magazine.
Anyway, a 7.7mm semi-automatic rifle is always welcome.
both japan and US need a br4 semi auto rifle i aprreciate this suggestion : )
