You can order an engineer to build something together with you if you have more than one engineer in your squad, but they are just way too stupid to change back to the main weapon and got killed with their hammer. Like this. Hope it got fixed.

In general the AI are useless. We should be able to tell them which weapons to equip, which direction to face, and REAL formations rather than vague “durr close, durr wide, durr standard”
We should be able to leave them behind without their orders being cancelled. If a Sergeant or Lieutenant gives an order and then moves position his subordinates don’t just go “whelp he’s moving so I oughta do that too herp derp”
We should be able to tell them to be prone or crouched, whether or not to shoot on sight, or whether or not to retaliate.
We should be able to tell them to throw their grenades at a given point, or to man a machinegun, or to mount their weapons.
Seriously there’s a ton of missed opportunities and weird jank.

well i am not fun of enginers,most likely mgs and smg. but i didnt see any option to order other enginer to help you to bulid something for example ammo,rally aa gun etc.
If you press x on something you can order a bot to finish building it or to dismantle it, though it’s janky. I think by design they stop building/dismantling if you start doing it manually
