Hey there. I’ve been trying out the new features, and have some feedback. I’ll sort it in positive/negative/neutral.
Positive:
Extra aggressive AI. They are now actually dangerous in close quarters, and i’ll be damned if I haven’t noticed my dudes firing at planes that get too close. Love it. Planes can still do their thing, just not at melee range.
Score popups on screen is a vast improvement. Players are now visually notified of how good their various actions are in terms of score/XP, which is a great and noninvasive mechanism to influence playstyles. Not enough people on points? Increase rewards for this. Too many people camping spawns? Decrease rewards for this. Nice.
Improved spawn locations, and maps overall. I have not tried every map, but the ones I’m familiar with seem better. Curious about other peoples’ experiences.
Neutral:
Tank FOV/UI updates are a bit hit and miss. I actually like the added difficulty factor of lacking the precise crosshair/pen indicator, but I highly dislike the fact, that the “optimal” way of driving is now holding down right click permanently. Why zoom out if it just makes 75% of your screen a black void?
Most of the interface changes, like the battlepass updates, seem superficial… But no problem, shiny?
Negative:
I don’t understand the logic of tank crew changes. Prioritizing the commander slot is nonsensical, when the two slots absolutely necessary for a functional tank, are driver and gunner. Annoying.
This is just a pet peeve, but no cross-campaign functionality was added this time around. I would like to see more “endgame” options for players, that aren’t simply “abandon your progress and start over.” Hope to see something of this sort soon.
I see tracers going from ground right to my plane. I’m launching the rbs-132 and killing the whole squad because bots spotted their position to me.
I don’t think it’s really good idea.
I think that was about tracers which were clipping inside the plane. Cuz there’s literally no reason to make tracers invisible for planes. I mean, that’s the only way to spot enemy groups from distance.
Guess that could be right - Even so, AI soldiers have a 50m engagement range, so I don’t really see how they would reveal much unless something is broken. 50m is basically on top of them, but maybe they have infinite vertical engagement or some similar bug.
(I disagree that planes lack ways to spot people, having a rough idea where spawn is, is plenty for them)
donno if have anything to do about the recent patch but,
it was the first time since pre-alpha that i saw a german team defending and securing the first point in Ministry gardens Map - invasion.
I think this was added because some teams were getting overrun on certain maps, with defenders getting stuck and not even making it back, before opponents cap the next point.
You have a point, though. But I think this could be mostly fixed through map design - Some capture points are much more open than others. They should all have some type of shelter from artillery fire/bombs, and not all of them do. Some are like impenetrable bunkers, others are 3 broken cars on an open field.
And still core problem is there. Capped so many points that are empty. not even single opponent even tries defend it.
Also kroll opera and köningsplats are really fukked up. That bridge dont offer any cover when german shoot from windows, tanks fire HE shells outside playable area and planes drop bombs. Also possibilities to flank are kinda ‘limited’. It will become just spawn rape fest
Need more testing but looks like its really hard. if soviets get over bridge at opera house and köningplatz they are lucky, its just pure base rape fest.
Looks like some points will take over minute to cap if there is only one person.
Still there was zones i was able to cap without even single defender being in point. So
Problem with that thing, from what I’ve seen, is that it’s LMG damage with SMG recoil and drum mags - Not sure what the idea was here, the thing should at least have a kick when firing from the shoulder like the other LMG’s.
