Better squads! (with poll)

Update!!!
Here are some better looking pictures of german squads i found

These squads had 1-2 SMG’s and a support gun. This was a standard geraman rifleman squad

I have also found an American SMG squad but Im not sure if its 100% realistic because I cant find any other evidence

See my post about how things goes in RO2:

Red orchestra is a great game, Cant believe there are better tank sights in a 10 yo game…

someone forgott to activate window :upside_down_face:

jokes aside, those reticles are very good.

i’m sure it’s just a matter of time for enlisted.

if not, we’ll make them by our own.
( just like wt )

I’m afraid that giving a squad only one special soldier of certain type will end up hunting them down. For example enemy can clearly see if soldier is carrying MG and can shoot him down instantly.
I know that this is how marksmens work but in my opinion it would be very frustraiting, especialy if you like to use for exapmle MG and you are just screaming “shoot me to avoid problems”.

Well we got ez-anti-chad here preventing us from tampering with the files.

I think, in the middle of combat, only snipers would be able to do this.
But they could also do the inverse: Know that the specialist is most likely the player, and take out the rest of the squad first, so they don’t get retaliated upon.

Do note that in most cases, only the weapon would be different, while the uniforms would stay the same.

Like right now you can tell what is a premium squad, and know they carry SMGs, same with LMG squads. But rifleman vs smg isnt that visible.

Yes but if SU would have strong SMG, US semi auto etc. as suggested in original post than germans would be in massive disadvantage because everybody would start a fight by killing the only MG.

Well, as I said, first you would have to notice the MG. As they would all wear the same uniform in the squad, you need to see the actual guns.

This would be a change alongside the different squad setup. (as far as i understand the concept)

If you can easily find and kill one MG guy in the whole 7-man squad, good for you.
Honestly i think skill should be granted so sniping an MG guy is more a tactic than an issue. Also I have to note that german squads had 2-3 assistant gunners who carry extra ammo. These guys can easily pick up their dead buddy’s MG and use it. Also some german squads had up to 3 SMG’s in them and more weapon choices like G41/43 and late war ones had one or two FG-42’s or StG-44’s in them but I couldn’t find pictures of them, these pictures you see above, focus mostly on classes and not weapons. Anyways, some german weapons were rare but ahead of their time so germans will have their advantages,

Another thing to add for the MG squad: Russians and americans had little to no assistant gunners in their squad meaning that if a russian MG guy dies, it will be much more fatal than if the german MG guy dies.

If devs introduce larger maps in Moscow, this will triple the effectiveness of MG gunners.
D-Day is already quite large and you can see how effective MG’s on that map are. Now imagine having two guys next to you, giving you ammo while you spray your MG-34 on muricans

If AG can pick up the gun than I’m ok with this idea. But we need AG first.

Off course!!! Thats why I brought these pictures of squads with assistant gunners.

AG will probably be armed with a rifle or pistol, his AI will function by giving you more MG ammo every time you get low on ammo

I would give him ammo box and Lafette mount with proper mechanics.
A bit of autopromotion

Ps: Soviets did have a GPMG at the beginning of ww2 (1941-1943). These machine guns were shown in Enlisted Alphatest which means they were confirmed. Basically, this MG is called Maxim-Tokarev and it was an air cooled version of maxim gun with bipod and reduced weight. These guns were only manufactured in small numbers, about 3000 of them were made (this was because soviet union put much more interest in developing light machine guns like DP-27)

If you want to improve your post, feel free to use some information I gave you

Thanks for information but it doesn’t looks like GPMG from what I chceked. I’ll have to dig a bit.

You could be right, I brought this machine gun up because it was something between LMG and HMG. It certainly didn’t have as much “options” as MG-34.

Nice idea mate.

I made also idea on Squads for Enlisted.

And I think my idea is also very good for game like Enlisted.
