So I don’t think that I am the only one who has noticed that the german tanks in the berlin maps seem to die almost as soon as they spawn which lets the t34s run around with impunity. Obviously the soviets starting with a tank that is basically the same as the one they had in CB doesn’t help. But I think the biggest draw back of using the J variant is that it’s an extremely slow tank and fighting in a city where you really benefit from speed.
I was thinking, even if it isn’t perfectly historically accurate that instead of t34-d-5t vs pz4 j the starters could be something like pz4 g or h vs a later model t34 76 or 57. They have fairly comparable speed from my knowledge, and the panzer should have a commander mg while the t34 retains it’s relative difficulty to destroy by thrown explosives.
I’ve lost track of the number of times I have spawned in with a Panzer IV, and the Russians already have the spawn in sight, taking you out before you can even begin to return fire. Some maps are better, some are decidedly worse, but until the Panther arrives the Russians definitely have a massive advantage.
Problem is that one starter now has a severly underpowered engine and 5deg/sec turret rotation. The gun on the panzer is fine. The panzer is also so short that, unlike the t34, it can’t fire over the wrecks that lie around the map. It feels like choosing that tank was bit of a last minute decision and it wasnt properly considered against the d5t.
I dont know, i have my tanker crew at lvl 30 so ive put a decent amount of time into, but im finding my shells ricochet off of the green highlighted pen areas. Plus i know where to aim due to playing alot of war thunder. On top of that its very rare to get a 1 shot kill on a t34 85, ive tried the t34 as well, with no upgrades or anything on it, and it was esentially a point and click adventure game, the gun 1 shots everything and just overall out performs the pz4, hell with these pen ratios the tiger would almost be a fair match against the t34 in cqb on berlin.
