As the title says, someone camping on the roof of a capture point shouldn’t could as contesting it.
The point in question was A (the stables) on the city Moscow map, there was two snipers sat on the roof and it locked the point to the enemy team.
If the capture point is a one story building, then only people on the ground should count as contesting.
It was resolved by just spamming the building with artillery strikes.
It’s the same as when people perch on walls inside a building… but that’s a different matter.
Agree. Had a similar situation with a squad of Anne Franks hiding in the attic on Point A on Swamps. We eventually fried them out with flamethrowers and grenades but it was obnoxious.
But then, if you are sitting on the roof of your house and someone is inside it… is it really your house because you don’t control the inside.
Either way, they were trolling, not fighting, which made it worse.
Yeah, I agree on that. Just the mechanisms of capture points and how they are domes for the most part and It goes both ways.
We get the advantage with holding when it’s contested and they have to clear us out fully to take it. Lots of weapons in Enlisted that could unseat them though.
Was this Squads or Lone wolf out of curiosity? I only play SQUADS so this type of stuff really doesn’t impact the game much in the games I’ve been in. They get killed fairly quickly.
If the US can clear that first bunker on D-day after it’s been heavily fortified with sandbags, wire and mines then I think you should be able to get one loser off a roof …
Make capture points much larger. Two alive guys on the roof, shouldn’t matter in you have 20 friendlies in the same zone. Ability to occupy multiple places in the same zone, will greatly help with many other things too, like arty, mortars, bombs and bigger tanks.
I see it as people just exploiting how cap mechanics work. Attics apply to it but they aren’t the only case of it.
In the provolonemoscow village invasion map, I’ve contested the first point before by going prone on the outer lip of the trench where dirt is mounded up, so nobody could really see me unless they were on top of me.
Likewise before it got patched the last point on that map used to have an isolated corner outside of the house where the attacker team would always contest without even being visible through a window, where they could only be reached by the defenders fighting their way outside and around a corner.
Really all isolated holes where you can contest a point without controlling it in spirit should continue to be patched out.
