The Battle of the Caucasus was a series of Axis and Soviet operations in the Caucasus as part of the Eastern Front of World War II. On 25 July 1942, German troops captured Rostov-on-Don, opening the Caucasus region of the southern Soviet Union to the Germans and threatening the oil fields beyond at Maykop, Grozny, and ultimately Baku. Two days prior, Adolf Hitler had issued a directive to launch an operation into the Caucasus named Operation Edelweiß. German units would reach their high water mark in the Caucasus in early November 1942, getting as far as the town of Alagir and city of Ordzhonikidze, some 610 km from their starting positions. Axis forces were compelled to withdraw from the area later that winter as Operation Little Saturn threatened to cut them off.

In early August 1942, a small Brandenburger unit of Baltic and Sudeten Germans led by Freiherr Adrian von Fölkersam penetrated far ahead of German regular forces to seize Soviet oil facilities around Maikop.

Battle for Maikop

Trudging through black tar hiding behind pipes and barrels filled with oil waiting to burn you alive. through the entire war Germany suffered from an oil hunger one they tried to cure by turning coal into oil. we already have a Russian mine in game lets add a soviet oil filed. i would love to see this added to the game giving Enlisted even more grit.

One of my favorite map is fighting through the soviet mine map. Up and down sharp hills over covered bridges behind large excavators. even the limited rail line and chunks of construction material. id love more of their ‘open’ maps. the oil might even be a way to limit armored movement, as a foot of oil has a way of stopping everything but planes.
