AVT-40 vs FG-42 II

Currently the AVT-40 feels quite lacking when compared to the FG-42 II, the FG is an amazing level 29 unlock but the AVT feels worse than the AVS which is unlocked at level 21.

  • AVT-40 vertical recoil: 82
  • AVS-36 vertical recoil: 78
  • FG-42 II vertical recoil: 40

Horizontal recoil is almost unnoticable on semi-autos so I did not include it. Damage for all is the same.

My suggestion is that the recoil of the AVT-40 should be reduced to at least 70/65 to better match the FG-42 II and its level in the campaign.

and the ppsh is better than the beretta. different factions have different advantages, which creates some sort of weird “balanced imbalance” if that makes sense

The term you are looking for is asymmetric balance.

Which is the art of generating balance by adding different strengths and weaknesses to every party.

The main problem is the AVT being a worse gun than the AVS.
The only advantage the soviets have in Berlin is the PPSh-41/PPD-40 everything else is worse or the same as the german counterparts.

yes it does seem that way, and i would agree that that is not right. but the poor Fallschirmjägergewehr has nothing to do with this

yes. and the only advantages the krauts have is the fg, and a slight advantage in machineguns (this advantage became rather small since the mg’s got hit heavy by the mg nerf)
everything else seems very equal to me. unless you think the soviets lack in other catagories, in which case i would like to hear where

You know the soviet machineguns were also nerfed? The german machineguns are a lot better than soviet ones. The Panther when played by a good player is godly due to its better armor, coax and faster reload on the main gun. The german bomber aircraft are also better, the only good rival to them is the IL-10 which is a super late unlock.

the german machine guns are only slightly better. if you use them the same way you will get almost the exact same result, i have played both sides post nerf, i know this. the T-34-85 is magical it can be godly with even just an average player, against the panther it is very decent, and the Pz. IV J doesnt even stand a chance if the person in the T-34-85 knows how to press the mouse button. i would agree that the IL-2-37 sucks ass and should promptly be deleted from the game. however, the type 3 was the best bomber in berlin pre bomb nerf and probably still is (i havent seen one since then so i can’t confirm this). the type 3 is actually another example of “asymmetric balance” as that guy said it is called. since although the me 410 which is unlocked at the same level is better at anti air, the type 3 is better in anti ground. also since the fw 190 is scuffed i would consider the IL 10 slightly better, but only slightly

We are going waaay off topic now. Lets discuss the AVT, AVS and the FG.

i would say we weren’t necessarily off topic, more “topic adjacent” yeah? but sure, what would you do to make the AVT more of an upgrade from the AVS?

They both do the same damage and have the same magazine capacity so you can only change the recoil. Since the AVT has a sturdier and better stock and a new muzzle break it should have less recoil, not by a lot but still less than 78.

seems fair. i dont actually think there is much else they can do other than tweak recoil since i believe all other stats represents how the guns works in real life

I wish more people understood this instead of wanting everything to be a carbon copy

I actually looked, and I guess they made the AVT an upgrade to the AVS by giving it an extra mag, as it has 15/30 rather than 15/15.

Not worth all that much in my opinion.

let me sum this.

so you want to reduce russian auto rifle recoil to match FG42 recoil?

let’s trade, if SMGs are fixed (replaced or more ammo) and add StG-44 to compensate russian SMGs then yes go on otherwise no because you already have better far SMG and semi auto sniper rifle but you also want better semi auto?

the fg-42 was a weapon designed to fill the roll of a squad automatic weapon while the AVT was designed as a standard-ish infantry rifle (never really got that far).

frankly I think it’s dumb they have the FG-42 available to everyone like they do, should be a machinegunner weapon IMO, the nazi’s are already slated to get the stg-44

Mayby he wanted later unlock be better not worse then earlier unlock? Sure it got 1 extra mag but now total ammo is closer to axis equilevant

he suggested vertical recoil of 70 or 65 so how this is better then fg 42 II?

Or mayby thay should increase fg 42 II recoil to be higher then first one making later unlock pointless, i bet peole would love grinding weapons like that

Only the FG can be equipped with the whole squad. And the ppsh is only four in the squad.

Now T-34-85 cant one shot pz 4.You lie. Many times shot not give any damage…

Read the suggestion please. Nobody wanted to make the AVT-40 better than the FG. I only want the later unlock to be better than an earlier one.
Semi-auto snipers are worthless when it comes to Berlin, you are either way too close or way too far away from the enemies, they work much better in the Moscow campaign.

I mean the ppsh 41 is a pretty big advantage in the cqb department. It’s an absolute monster in cqb which is most of Berlins maps.

I don’t have the avt 40 yet but it looks pretty lacklustre for a lvl 29 unlock.

I’m fine with that though as I’m sure there will be better things to come like the RPD.
