So, I just suffered through a Soviet Destruction match. 3v4, well, 2v3 as 1 player on each side deserted. I had…no support. At all. I was the only one able to push forward and disarm the bomb. My fellow player just kept on mortaring the entire match and did little to nothing. Here’s the thing though, I was being flooded by enemies CONSTANTLY. I literally couldn’t even stop to build an ammo box before having to shoot another AI that rushed into the building trying to plant. So, the Attacker AI CONSTANTLY pushes objective. Granted, when there’s players in the match to cut them down, they don’t get very far. When those players are absent however, they are much better at human waving themselves onto objectives
Defending AI on the other hand? No such luck. Scattered across the four winds. All over the place. Everywhere on the map yet nowhere where you need them
So, maybe some AI tweaking to mayhaps give defending AI a bit more of a “play the objective” type of coding? Please?
Side note, ain’t the AI supposed to build their own rallies now? You tellin me out of 8 AI soldiers not a single one built their own rally? Not to mention I don’t think I ever saw them take out a tank which would’ve been SUPER helpful in stemming the tide and maybe even taking out that Pz IV that no one seemed to want to kill
I know this would be easier said than done but I wish the AI (squadmates and ai players) would be able to defend by getting vantage points by windows and mounting lmgs rather than running around aimlessly.
Obviously making the bots do this everywhere wouldn’t be super possible but them going to predefined nodes for defensive positions by windows and such when protecting/capturing a point would be nice.
When I drop to set a bomb knowing I have little to no help, I start calling my bots at the same time. I know they won’t physically help, but I hope they draw enough fire to let me get the bomb set. However, it never works… I always get shot just before I have it set.
Are you absolutely positive that you had so many AI teammates? Some of them were probably just NPCs behind a screen.
Anyway you can test AI behaviour in custom games well, they do focus on attacking and defending, also build their own rallies.
I particularly dislike being on the defensive side because the attacking side often gives up the attack and stays in the gray area to use snipers or tanks against me, which is a complete waste of time.
Not really on the topic. But now you are not given anything for defusing the bomb, absolutely nothing, that is, for lying under enemy fire for a minute (±) is not rewarded in any way, although it directly affects the outcome of the battle. In general, planting a bomb is also not really fair rewarded… This mode in rotation I guess 3 years now and still nothing done with that…
