Asymmetrical squad sizes to balance asymmetrical playerbases

It is pretty well known that Germany has more players than Soviets, and that this causes lower winrate on the Soviet side because of squads that are lead by AIs, which perform absolutely terrible.

So I would like to propose something rather simple:
Historically, Soviets used 12-man squads.
And Germany used 10-man squads.
Why not give Soviets the larger squads, while making their teams smaller in return?
With 8v10 matches, both sides would still have roughly the same total soldier counts:
8x12=96 soldiers for Soviets.
10x10=100 soldiers for Germans.
Moving the AI soldiers from AI-lead squads to player-lead squads will result in higher efficiency, as players control where the AI go better than an AI does.
Later on, match sizes could get increased to 10v12 to get 120 soldiers per side.

Thoughts?

Would cause a lot of balance problems when it comes to weapons. I get what you’re going for, but I don’t think it’s the way to solve the problem.

How, though?
The rough soldier ratio per side stays the same, and so would the ammount of AI soldiers per human soldier, probably, with the smaller Soviet playerbase.

Personaly I would like it to be part of a asimetrical ballance in the released game. So germans are good at X while rusians are good at Y. It’s hard to do but it would give even more uniqueness to each side.

Ps.
You write quite fast :smiley:

I like where you’re starting, but I think it could be executed differently to be more flexible across all campaigns in the future.

Why not just double up bot squads only?
Bots are useless so if we let bot squads zerg wherever they’re present, they might make up for the lack of a real player while also leaving a target-rich environment for the other team.

Of course both of our solutions will create problems when the greater number of bots is on the attacking team, unless there’s a hard limit in place so that the team with fewer bots always attacks.

That would only create more meat grinders, until the point where bots actually become somewhat good, in which case you will just get lasered by bots.

And more AI soldiers will lead to those clusters of soldiers running in the same path from point to point like you see in lone soldier mode. When a player leads them, they will at least follow unique paths.
