Artillery Supply Drop

Can we please get a separate key for supply drops from artillery. having them in the same for the shells is causing the option to show that it is constantly available when it is not (because supply drop can be called in while active shells … it shows that artillery is available when it is not).

Moving Supply Drop to its own key and cooldown would clean this frustration up.

Dont know if relevant, but there’s a bug with the artillery since the rocket arty was introduced.
Artillery is shown as being available, while it’s not, and can be aimed and fired, but it doesnt really fire coz already busy.
After that it’s shown as available again.
Repeat until it’s actually available.
Very annoying.
This concerns normal artillery from a normal radioman.

Yep, it’s been there since the Rzhev update, It’s extremely annoying honestly…

I think It’s not a bug, because it should tell you, you can drop an ammo crate who have a separate cool down

(I’m not using anymore radio man in other squad so I can be wrong btw)

I don’t particularly use Radio squad, but I have a radio operator in every single squad that can have them, and I have this bug permantly for the standard artillery.

Indeed is an annoying bug then

The only difference is that now it allows you to open the map to mark a bombardment. And then when you click, it tells you that someone else on your team is using it. A thus the ability is blocked for you.
Before, you couldn’t even open the map, and it immediately told you it wasn’t possible.

I don’t think it’s a bug. Since there are now two simultaneous queues running, one for offensive bombardment and one for the supply box. That’s why it must allow you to open the map now.

No, it allows us to target and click fire, it doesnt say “already busy” but also doesnt fire.
It just doesnt fire and then shows the ‘artillery available’ icon again.

So we waste time selecting, targetting and firing artillery that doesnt fire.

yes it is

It does, immediately after you click and the map disappears.

I mean this:

  • icon of artillery available appears
  • I select artillery and aim and fire
  • artillery is busy so not firing
  • icon of artillery available still present
  • I need to repeat until it’s actually available

I’m wrong here, it does say busy, so it should not allow me to select, aim and ‘fire’ in the first place.

As I have said, it’s because:

You were able to use supply box drop. That’s why the map did open for you.
You can still use supply box drop even if the friendly artillery is active.

I don’t think it’s a bug, but it could be a bad design. I personally don’t mind it. But I understand it can be annoying for someone else.

Hmmm ok but the thing is, I was not using my Radiosquad but a Radioman 2 in an engineer squad.
My radioman 2 squad does not have the upgrade for dropping ammo boxes yet.
So should I get the option to drop something I cant drop?

BTW I thought dropping ammo boxes was exclusive to the Radiosquad?
If so, something is bugged.

See, no ammo box available for the used Radioman.

I see.

I don’t know, in that case it’ll probably never block access to the map again. Even if you don’t have the supply box option.

I don’t really see into their spaghetti code.

But it seems more like unpolished and rushed feature than actual bug. At least from my perspective. I believe what they have done with it was intended. (Because of implementation of two simultaneous queues for radio)

Could be, but my simple radioman should not suffer.
He can only call in artillery, nothing else.
Imho he clearly cant call in artillery coz it’s already busy, so I should not yet see the icon of it being available and I should not be able to select the map and not waste time aiming and then wondering what’s wrong.
Bug or feature, I dont know, it’s just wrong.
Thanks for your insights as always.

Artillery bug after recent update // Gaijin.net // Issues

100 % true… and developers still refuse to acknowledge it as a bug.

yes, but if you switch to the supply drop and use it . it goes and and acts normally. as such (and we kno they have separate cooldowns), the supply drop being callable while the others are active makes artillery remain showing as available. This is why I propose the separate option for the supply drop to avoid confusion and frustration.

there however may be a bug where its (the supply drop) showing available for squads in game, that dont have the supply drop upgrade as available when it shouldnt though.
