I think that locking certain gun upgrades to certain squads is a bit strange. I would like to be able to upgrade my Garands with a plain trooper squad but having to use the radiomen squad gets in the way of that. I think there should be a seperate tab next to “Academy” labelled armory and in there you can unlock the ranks and scrapping bonuses for the guns.
what are you talking about?
Workshop upgrades being tied to certain squads I imagine. As in he’d like to get XP towards earning M1 Garand workshop perk points even when playing Trooper squad. I personally think it would make more sense to get the relevant XP when you’re using the gun rather than the squad the gun came with.
I am sure it is quite deliberate to encourage use of all squad types.
That and probably to encourage people to buy points for weapons.
That may be the intent, but while I’m not sure I wholly agree with the fix OP presented, overall I understand his frustration with the progression and upgrade of weapons.
Enlisted encourages versatility of squads with certain upgrades, such as the ability for the Parachute Infantry Regiment to accommodate more AT riflemen or “bombers” to give it more of a chance against tanks. In the same breath, the lack of an armory to take stock of weapons in one’s inventory and the ability to upgrade them seems to run counter to this, in addition to those weapon upgrades being tied to squad progression.
I like the armory tab idea, and I agree with OP - workshop upgrades tied to different squad types is clunky, at the very least. Perhaps a different way to progress weapon upgrades would be more beneficial.
It may ultimately be an attempt at encouraging diversity among player-controlled squads, but it seems to serve more as an unnecessary grind of squads that some may not particularly be inclined to play otherwise just to upgrade weapons they favor. I understand this may be the intent, but… that’s not particularly fun, is it?
Just my two cents.
