Is this fair, or is it not? I have just spent an entire map continually being blown up on spawn points by mines. Personally I don’t agree with it, and believe that the Dev’s should put something in place to stop it from happening. Mind you, it is just my opinion, what do you guys think?
Mines in general, I think are fine.
If you mean the ones placed on top of rally points, then yes. I consider that stupid. I think all spawn camp metas should be discouraged. This one isn’t even that bad, since it only takes out 1 squad (not huge impact on the game)… But it’s still annoying as hell and there isn’t really anything you can do about it.
Edit: My proposed solution is to give soldiers 1 second invulnerability when spawning on a rally. Not full spawn protection, just enough for a mine to explode without harming them.
Ap mines do indeed need a rework.
As of now, there’s no skill involved, no downside in using them: you drop without looking, while running around.
As for toxic trolls trolls mining enemy rallies, there’s a beautiful irony here: it’s “thanks” to those idiots that mines are very likely the next thing to get nerfed.
Everytime something was abused even a lil bit, it received a nerf:
- Paratroopers now fall forrever.
- Flamethrowers now cannot run, and fire ignition takes longer.
- impact nades, radius reduced.
- WP nades, completely worthless now.
Etc.
The problem with it, is that ALSO because of those stupid trolls… AP mines risk being OVER nerfed, to the point it would become useless.
All what would be needed, is enemy rallies auto destroying when an enemy mine is placed near, and placing said mine, requires a planting animation.
But we all know: when df nerf… it over nerf.
So you can both thank and blame the trolls, I suppose ![]()

. I am all for the mines, I use them myself but being allowed to plant them right on top of a spawn is a no, no ![]()
What I suspect df implement, that would be too much, is a red/orange bonb marker over them. Like plane dropped bombs, or all types of grenades…
Just need a small 3 to 5 second planting animation to prevent sweat play, and mines could keep all their potency… (except on enemy rallies)
But, we will see what happens.
Someone with a certain ego posted a video lately on how to use them with rallies. All it did was making the behaviour more popular…
Df is bound to do something eventually.
I just hope ap mines, won’t receive the same treatment as WP grenades…
I kinda think they should make the mines so you have to place them on terrian where mines would be placed like in the dirt. Instead of on rally points or inside buildings. Just my thought.
Longer deployment would definitely help. They also should be more sensitive to being triggered by explosions.
On some maps they are infuriating to play against, you can barely see them and there are people who just respawn and re-drop them all the time, making pushing a massive exercise in frustration
At least the soviet ones kinda stick out the ground, the rest of them basically sink under the ground, including concrete, so trying to spot them, while also fighting full auto hordes is just a bit much

Fun fact: you don’t even have to step on the mines to make them go off. I literally put them beside the door, and they will go off. It’s quite hilarious and requires no effort on my part.

many of those mines had wires attached to cover a greater area. Which again I find silly that you can merely drop em while running and they magically fall correctly on the ground and automatically activate emselves…

It’s what I meant. ap mines require proper animation. 3-5 seconds, would really not be a nerf, it would merely prevent run and drop.
Correct, this was shown in the instruction video of the game.
Detonation distance is about 1 meter iirc.
Place them in doorways and the enemy will see them, so just put them next to the doorway.
Another fun fact: since some ppl dont like AP mines on enemy rallys, which I do every chance I get, I also place them sometimes very close to the rally. Like 1 to 1,5 meter.
Then when the enemy spawns and doesnt blow up, he thinks yayyy but as soon as he or a bot moves, they all die anyway.

If you’re using a rally point which is in the enemy’s objective area just expect there’s gonna be a good chance they’ve been mine there’s no such thing as a free respawn especially near the objective
ap mines should not be invisible in buildings, i got killed 3 times in a row to an ap mine i could not see, is the mine cloaked because it was not buried in the floor
They barely stick out and they are dull colored, just as the most of the buildings, it’s almost impossible to see them in darker rooms, especially when you don’t have the time to look for them extra hard, because you have to also watch for being shot
What I’m going to do from now on is, mine my rally points, and those of my team. I am not sure if that will blow up my rallies but who cares, at least it will be a nice surprise for the git’s that stoop so low in the game ![]()
When an enemy destroys your RP, your AP mine will fall to the ground and explode, killing the enemy who destroyed your RP.
Never happens to me, I just shoot them from a few meters away. If you have time to place AP mines on enemy rallies, you probably should think about playing for some other faction lmao
