Planes and called-in bomb runs are currently very strong in Enlisted, with limited counterplay. Fighter planes take up a valuable vehicle slot that is often better used by tanks, IFVs, or bombers, while the current engineer-built AA gun is rarely used except for anti-infantry. It’s clunky, requires full player attention, and is only partially effective.
My suggestion: allow engineers to build an AI-manned AA station. These would automatically target planes within a certain radius, giving squads a way to provide meaningful anti-air defense. They would also serve as secondary objectives for enemies to destroy, similar to rally points, adding more depth to gameplay.
Vehicles don’t share slots. Tanks have Tank slots, Bombers have Bomber Slots, APCs have APC slots and Fighters have fighter slots. The only downside to using a fighter is that many people don’t contribute to the objective while being in a plane, especially fighters which are worse at ground attacks.
Add TT SPAA vehicles to the game with separate vehicle slot that could be spawned even if there are 2 tanks and 3 apcs already deployed on the field.
Give one light vehicle slot so we could use BR1 tanks and basic spaa even at high br. Let them call artillery with separate timer from infantry radioman. Let them mark enemy tanks for 2.2x as long.
Buff Engineer AA by giving them better buildable AA at BR4-5.
Have AI controlled AA around plane spawn points (only carriers atm) so enemies wouldn’t be so easily spawn camp your planes.
@Dregomz I agree with your ideas at high BR. Around BR 3 is when aircraft start getting oppressive IMO.
@Adamnpee I had no idea bots could do that already! If that’s true, just giving players the option to put one of their squadmates on the gun could be an alternative.
