Anti-Fortification Explosives: Bangalores and More!

We all know how effective defensive fortifications such as sandbags, barbed wire and Czech hedgehogs can be, both for player and bot pathing control. Historically, there were explosive devices developed by different nations and faction to counter such defensive constructions. The most famous one was the American Bangalore, but everyone had some sort of demolition charge used to remove fortifications!

Here is my proposal: Let’s add Anti-Fortification Explosives in the game. The way I would like to see them implemented is to have the same functionality as AP and AT mines (which slot they fill, how they’re placed), but they explode 3-5 seconds after dropping, destroying fortifications within ~3m that are in line-of-sight of the explosion. This creates a simple-to-use option that removes fortifications quickly, expanding tactical options for players.

USSR: KZ-4

USA/UK: M1A1 Bangalore Torpedo

Germany/Italy: Sprengbüchse

Japan: Box Charge

Box Satchel Charge

Would you like to see Anti-Fortification demolition charges added to the game?

Honestly making it so Explo packs can reliably demo sandbags and barbed wire would be enough already, but a larger stachel that could be thrown maybe 3 to 5m would be perfect for either destroying hedgehogs, or destroying a lot of barbed wire or sandbags at once.

This could be done, but Explosive packs are already used universally in the grenade slot.

I think it would be more interesting if such an item that can quickly remove fortifications is either in the mine slot, or soldier-type exclusive to Engineers. It makes the player have to choose, and not make fortifications a waste of time to build.

Id agree with it being limited to engineers, but it should be a choice of a utility of something like a mine or the practicality of a TNT charge, vs the raw destructive power of a satchel imo.

That or you nerf the explo packs ability vs tanks, and instead leave the satchel at a neat way to kill heavier tanks, in turn both encouraging tanks to play more aggressively while also encouraging the use of say AT rifles to first disable a tanks tracks before using a satchel to finish it.

I agree some building take lots of demo packs and sometimes Even TNT charges to remove

Adding these ítems to all factions would be insanelly cool

I don’t think these equipment are too similar to explosives or TNT. They can have greater power, but at the cost of some movement speed. This would actually be a good addition.

yes please. Maybe could be used to completely eviscerate barbed wire?

That was what originally inspired me to make this post, but it would be great if it removed other structures such as Czech hedgehogs as well!

would be cool if engineers had additional tools generally to dismantle obstacles, maybe a blow torch for hedgehogs, wire cutters for barbed wire

would give a greater utility for engineers if they had more tools

if not wrong the enggineers dismout these stuff faster than other unit types which is a cool detail if my statement is actually true
