FFS I am so tired of the Ubiquitous P 38, and… P 51’s, the whole BR thing is F’ed up, non of the early war planes we used to be able to enjoy are being used, why would anyone select a Buffalow when you can take a P 38.

Yeah, I still do not uderstand how P38 wasn’t move to BR3. It’s just something so obvious to me.
It makes sense vs axis Germany…
And loses all sense vs Japan that must start on carriers with older model planes…
I’m really curious to see how devs will balance things out with Japan. Or if they will at all.

i mean if my premium, Boomerang, i payed for, is BR 3, never to be used again,
something with rockets, and that starts in the air, should be way higher.

Well i haven’t, and wish i hadn’t bought it at all, used it in Pacific, before merge,
and now, it is basically useless to me, due to BR
Simplest, albeit boring, solution would be to make ALL planes start in the air.
Carriers would still remain to repair…

Why Japan didn’t get more late-war planes is similar to why people ask why the US didn’t get more late-war tanks but just Shermans and M3 Lee or why the Soviets didn’t get more late-war planes as well but another MG.
Because DF has priorities, I guess. Those APCs were more important.
The P-38E and P-38G are early war aircraft from 1941 and early 1942 respectively. They were at Guadalcanal alongside the Wildcats and P-40s fighting against Zeros so it makes sense to see them at that BR strictly from a historic sense. Balance-wise, they are alright where they are as well, considering that the P-38G is now an attacker. In fact, I’d argue it would make more sense to move the P-38E down to BR 2. The P-38J should probably go up to BR 4 though.

BR3 is filled with 41/42 stuff too, so… And putting p38g to BR3 make complete sense to me.
If it was a fighter, you may have an argument. As an attacker though, it is fine where it is.
Why do you think so? I think it’s overperforming majority of BR2 planes. The rest? They themselves do have pretty weird BR policy and could be easily moved to higher BR.

In terms of raw air-to-air performance and firepower, the closest peer to the P-38E and G in game the Fw 190A-1, which is also at BR 2. So there really shouldn’t be any problem with either of them there, especially since the Spitfire Mark V and A6M2 are also at BR 2.
No rockets, no bombs. Quite a difference imho. Especially since anti ground capabilities are way moe important.
And I believe the spitfire has no anti ground loadout as well.

P-38E doesn’t have CAS munitions either, and the P-38G is an attacker meaning it naturally should have more CAS munitions. The P-38G’s payload is also not particularly strong for an attacker at that rank, with the Stukas and SBD having a larger nominal payload and the IL-2 having more rockets in addition to bombs, so it would make sense for it to have a better flight preformance.
the japanese need to just get a small buff on all planes (like adding 2 50KG bombs) and STOP SPAWNING ON THOSE MF CARRIERS to become balanced to american planes.
the BRs work out for planes, but the japanese just have retardetly nerfed planes.
