I doubt it, people at that time protect animal not because they are inferior, it is because those animal are their belonging. Would you let people take away your stuff? Same apply to animals.

Some countries vilify women nipples, but idolize criminals and gore, murders, violence in their media/games (usa)
Some are ok with sex and have weeeeeeird often unhealthy sexual habits and fetishes… but mark genitals as illegal (Japan)
Some have double standards and brand their vanquished foes as war criminals, like german Rommel or Japanese Yamamoto, and glorify their own real war criminals Zhu… (Russia)
But.
Even if any and all censorship is wrong in my opinion: adding animals in such is simply unnecessary. What plus would it bring in game? Nothing really.

Some people have this thing where they have to slaughter animals in a war game to feel good about themselves.
The only animals we are allowed to kill are panthers pumas tigarus and soon greyhounds.
Anything besides that is stupid and there is no need to have.

Many willing joined either as the pro or antagonist.
Conscription might have forced the hand to the rest but you had knowledge and could flee ect.
An animal has zero understanding of what is happening and being asked of him.
To enjoy that or even want that portrayed here is wrong on so many levels.
As for other titles allowing that I dont know and would never play if so.
