When I woke up this morning, an idea popped into my head.
Since the animation for throwing a grenade looks like you are throwing a baseball, American football, or a cricket ball, what if Darkflow created an April Fools even where you are playing one of these sports but as soldiers? There won’t be any guns, of course, but there will be grenades.
Use the regular grenades for cricket and baseball and the explosion pack as a football.
I have the baseball one mostly figured out. The pitcher will be randomly chosen throughout the lineup until each player has played. The pitcher will throw the grenade across home plate, and the batter will have to try and hit it. When the pitcher throws the pitch and gets a strike, the grenade will hit the catcher and blow up, giving the pitcher a kill and points for a strikeout. Everyone on the team will receive an assist.
If the batter gets a hit and gets on first base, the grenade will blow up in the hand of anyone who is holding on to it. If no one picks up the grenade out of fear, the base runner can continue running home until they score. This will cause a bombing raid to happen to kill all of the enemy team on defense, giving the baserunner the kills and the rest of the team batting assists.
But it will not be easy for the batters, as the pitcher will have one impact grenade per at-bat, so the threat of an automatic strike is always there. If someone catches a popup fly, it will award points to whoever catches it and give everyone an assist. The defenders field the grenade and throw it to the base for the base runner to be out. If they are successful, then the grenade will blow up and kill the base runner who was trying to get on base. If not, the grenade will blow up in the hands of the defender who was thrown the ball and award the hitter a kill, and the team batting assists.
The pitcher will have four pitches to throw: Fastball, curveball, changeup, and slider. As they play more in the event, they will unlock unique pitches according to each country. For instance, the Soviets could receive a Stalingrad knuckleball (it kept the eastern front frozen in place, much like how the knuckleball is almost frozen in place while headed for the plate).
This is a quick idea of how it is to play out, but I can go into further detail if anyone is interested in this April Fool’s event idea.
