An alternative to BRs

Hi, I’ve posted my personal criticism of BR system in another post. Here’s a proposal that I find more contributive to

  1. Overall balance catering to winning rate , not just subjective experience.
  2. Usefulness of low tier squads in EVERY match, and hence participation of new players.
  3. Historical accuracy to a certain extent.

It works in this way: Instead of BRs that kinda forces you to simultaneously use several squads of similar strength, this Alternative allows you to use more low tier squads but less high tier squads. Compare to RTS games, each player has his own points to spend on squads, and therefore each must carefully plan when it is convenient to have quick/cheap deployment, and when to have costly yet powerful squads. This is a soft restriction that gives players more freedom and also responsibility to carefully think about their loadout, as you can no longer spam Tiger II but just Volkssturm (as they were supposed to) This not only makes players even for mainly battling with average-performing squads, but also makes the high tier squads as mighty and rare as they are supposed to be.

The other benefit is that it will make the game more depending on the skill rather than equipment, for example, the Late Germans will find that their top end squads more powerful but also taking more cost to deploy, and in order to denfend zones asap, players have to make a hard decision whether to wait or deploy with cannon fodders for several times given a limited personal resource. For different maps, players will have access to different map-dependent squad presets so that ridiculous Italians-in-Berlin is avoided.

Compared to the current BR system, which makes the loadout fairly boring as you are about to equip the same best gears in a given BR, the alternative utilises the diverse armoury and makes every squad useful because they have varying cost based on the guns’ performance, and offer much, much more options in different matches. Don’t you want to sell more squads, Darkflow? This is the opportunity: Bought squads are going to have a seperate cost system, so you don’t have to worry about draining your resources with cannon fodders.

i would also want that kind of balance, so that every unit you bring matters, there is no economy simulation in enlisted, which means you can bring fully equipped top squads every time, i would want every squad to matter, basic infantry would be just dead cheap to deploy, perhaps cost nothing at all.

I don’t actually like br system at all, it only further separate weapon types you see in game, that’s weird given how developers try to gain more variety by locking how many squads each type you can bring.

the way games used to be is that powerful weapon can be brought with big price, that was always the case.

that’s a complex idea though and doesn’t really have a place in enlisted the way the developers have accustomed us to it. Maybe it has something to do with their monetization system.

Now here’s a comparison to another game. If you have played Clash Royale, they have this slowly filling up “elixir” system as the resource to deploy units. If you only have powerful but costly units, in our case, squads, they are gonna cost you too much elixirs that you are not able to respond to the situation immediately and with flexibility as your elixir hasn’t refilled. It’s sorta like machine gun overheat, but for powerful squads…And such waste of recources eventually lead to loss. Are their units individually balanced? No. But is the game balanced? overall, yes. A goblin is no match of knight. But what about six goblins? We should have more low tier squads rather than high tier squads no matter it’s high BR room or low BR room.

I see you’re not that often here on the forum,

there’s been plenty of suggestion to make spawn score system, that you have either gain score to spawn some unit or wait for the resources to fill up.

but devs never caugth up on that.

this may be not theirs vision on this game.

although we had spawn score system for mech event. So keep trying.
