If you pick up a rifle of the same calibre, it should increase the total amount of that calibre. So if you have 10rds left, pick up another rifle with 5 rounds, it should be 15 available. Also make grabbing a weapon off a dead solider easier as have to move around to find just the right spot to get the icon to appear.
