While the new soldier leveling system has taken away much of the RNG of the Academy, there is still skill point spread on all characters. Now that maximum skill points bestow a benefit on your soldiers, there should be a way to make all soldier equal once they reach Rank 5. The framework is already there, with the “Training” button that you can use to increase a single skill point for bronze troop orders. Once you reach soldier rank 5, you should be able to spend additional bronze orders to get your troops to max level, though it should take more than it does to ordinarily train. I would suggest 5x orders per rank 5 training, as you would only need to train 6 times at most, which is a decent amount but won’t feel too large.
If you want to calculate your skill point spread, 1-star soldiers have 2-4 base points in each category, which increase by 2 per level in each category, until the jump from 4-star to 5-star which is 6 in each category. Dont forget to add your additional class skill points. For example, a 5-Star Gunner II can have between 14 speed, 14 vitality, and 20 handling, to 16 speed, 16 vitality, and 22 handling. If you have low skill point spread you wont be able to ever get the 16-point perks, which really make or break some builds. Additionally, with the easy acquisition of new troopers gone, you can’t really just throw a rank 5 away if they have poor spread. Therefore, this will solve that problem as well as provide a way to balance top-tier characters for all players.
