Radiomen should be allowed to use shotguns. They are by default locked into having two weapon slots. Shotguns presently are a niche weapon.
Allowing radiomen to equip shotguns would increase the times it makes sense to bring them to combat, would therefore increase the aggregate fun and result in higher use of the various shotguns in the game.
There’s basically no balance issues or any other notable downsides from this change, and it should be extremely easy to implement.

And what about the fighters? We could lift the shotgun restrictions for them too.

I’d be down to that. However tbh I think riflemen in general need a bit of a buff

Yes! Totally!
Shotguns are underpowered, but also if they were more overpowered they would be better then rifles and everyone would use shotguns which would not be realistic. Giving Engineers shotguns is fine but they don’t get a secondary weapon slot cause of the hammer, and shotguns are very situational, best used as a CQB secondary with a rifle for long range.
But yes, the Radioman does have those two weapon slots by default, and you have to be mindful to have weapons with different ammo capacities, so you don’t draw from the same ammo pool cause of how Enlisted deals with ammo.
Right now I only add shotguns to my lineup if there is an event like the current event that asks for shotgun kills. Putting them as a secondary on Radiomen would be a great use of that slot because I am finding they are very fun to use for a short period in game to get the event kills.

Since Radiomen didn’t carry a secondary weapon in actual combat, The Dev’s should allow players to at least have the choice of a secondary weapon, or an ammo bag. Plus, allow them to carry a shotgun.

just make shotguns a universal weapon at this point like the VG1-5
why not, they’re all garbage meme weapons for having fun
(the auto shotguns are okay, but if you think about it, the pump action shotguns are really just bolt action rifles that only kill people up close and dont reload with stripper clips)

I’m also fine with that. I have just been making these suggestions (hence the 2026 in case it gets rejected
) for radiomen for a while, and these are the guys that most benefit from it imo

Winchester 1912 is fun if a little ineffective.

This is something I’ve been asking for since day one of me playing enlisted, dating all the way back to late 2022 early 2023. Radio men with shotguns wont break the balance, in fact it just gives them something else to have fun with. Nine times out of 10 anyways my radiomen get killed point blank because they don’t have a shotgun or close range weapon and they’re fighting a single soldier who Squad wipes with an SMG.
As for the 1912 with a bayonet? I completely forgot this was in the files, it’s definitely time to add that to the list of available weapons. Especially because the only weapons the Allies get with bayonets are rifleman weapons, exception being some rare event stuff like the type 100.

It’s extremely weird for them to be forced have 2 weapon slots, yet they can’t even use 2 different weapon types.
And running around with two rifles is just weird.

That I completely agree with, yeah sure you’ve got pistol caliber carbine, bolt action, semi Auto, and select fire, but those are all still rifles.
I wouldn’t agree with giving them any other weapon type other than a shotgun, but the shotgun just feels so right in their hands. Even playing around in the editor to modify soldier stats, and restrictions having that restriction move so they can use shotguns is really nice and satisfying.
It just sucks that shotguns are limited to BR II Max, If they could bring it up to at least BR III I would call that a good middle ground for being in BR V matches with a secondary weapon. They’ve already got options in BR I and II, already have an option for the Allies in mind too. Ithaca 37 with 7 round tube basically revert it to what the early file in the editor showed, so we’re not stuck with the slow BR I version and tune as necessary. As for the other factions, no clue preferably avoiding any copy paste. This could also be used to help push for more Tech tree shotguns, like the Walther toggle or something else.
