Allow gunners and drivers to operate the machine gunner's weapon cross-position

Even though the KB-1 and Panzer IV can now mount hull machine guns, this new mechanic only leaves players frustrated. In the past, even with just three crew members left alive, surviving crew could fill in as loaders to keep feeding high-explosive rounds, wiping out enemy tank crews and maintaining an advantageous reload rate in tank duels.

Now, if just one crew member dies — such as the commander — you won’t be able to fire the hull machine gun while controlling the gunner’s station.

Realistically, no player can alternate between firing the main cannon and switching to the hull machine gun mid-combat. This restriction creates clunky, inefficient gameplay that desperately needs revision.

Apart from Japanese tanks, this update is nothing but a nerf. It removes the backup loader mechanic that sped up our reloads. It’s obvious which feature matters more: a spare loader to boost cannon reload speed is far more valuable than a hull machine gun only usable by the commander.

We already have two existing in-game mechanics to serve as a reference for a proper buff:
For one, the gunner of the T-28 can operate both hull machine guns, though players have reported these machine guns deal zero damage.
Additionally, drivers of premium American APC squad vehicles can cross-operate mounted machine guns.

Therefore, I suggest DF adjust the game code to let both drivers and gunners control the hull machine guns, just like commanders can. If commanders are allowed to take over the gunner’s position, there is no logical reason gunners cannot access the hull machine guns

Your tank functions as a single integrated unit when you control it. Even when you’re manning the gunner station, you can still drive the tank forward and backward.
