Allied artie on normandy(invasion)? my theory

so i’ve been wondering how the allies are able to call artillery strike without grabbing the first point on invasion normandy, so i’ve came up with a theory to solve it. the theory is that the allies had aliens, invisible to the germans, stations above there and raining high explosives onto the area it was called.

Devs didn’t even make the animation of those destroyers firing when calling the artillery

The fire you see from the destroyer is actually an MG-42 slapped on top of the boat to imitate cannon fire :joy:

that could be explain by the amount of 420 both sides kept eating

It’s the ships that provide artillery support during landings. Except that realistically they wouldn’t fire if allied troops are already on the shore. Historically this caused a bit of a disaster when due to poor coordination ships stopped the artillery barrage too early, which allowed the defenders to safely regroup.

Oh I’m sorry, am I ruining your fun here with stupid history and such? Carry on spewing bile and lame jokes then.

I reckon it’s someone sneakily fielding a radioman who can call arty strikes right from the get go - weird I know, but I just got this feeling…

that doesn’t explain how the artillery got there

Same way all artillery does - et gets shot from a gun - or it gets coded in a game!! duh! :stuck_out_tongue:

you’re right, the snail god is summoning them from the air how could i be such a fool

snail god ain’t making this one

doesn’t mean snail god has no hand in the gameplay

What do you mean how did it get there? It got shot out of those big pipe things on those big metal tubs in the ocean. Is that clear enough for you?

You mean ships don’t exist solely to shoot at other ships?

Nah, artillery strike was called in by an American planted spy dressed as a German soldier. His name was James Bond. This was the start of his career

you know that a 127, 156, 208, and battleship caliber guns, which are common on american war ships, have different HE sizes compared to what is seen ingame, which appears to be a 105 or 150 though 105 would be more common for american artillery, also if you had read the topic you know that it was a joke about the game itself and should not be taken seriously

i say snail god or aliens make more sense then james bond but i can see how one can argue that since he was an important character to win the war same with indinia jones

imagine an artillery barrage from the Colorado-class BB, 406mm shells

normandy beach? what beach

i mean USS texas was there for shore bombardment but the point of that, i believe, was to take out bunkers and not infantry support like the artillery in game does

Historically speaking, the point of the shore bombardment was to take out as many hard defensive positions as they could, killing random infantry was a bonus. Plus there’s always the benefit of terrifying everyone on the receiving end of it.

There’s smaller ships out there, some of which have mortars iirc

those mortars might have been used for Anti sub warfare, and i know the 3 inch gun is one of the smallest guns found on early destroyers
