All British General Purpose (G.P.) bombs should be replaced by Medium Capacity (M.C.) bombs

General Purpose (G.P. in short) bombs are by far the worst bombs in game.

Anyone who has used them knows the frustration of getting a white hit mark, only for the enemy tank to easily escape the blast radius while the hit cam just shows fragments scratching their paint.

The British recognized these shortcomings and introduced Medium Capacity (M.C. in short) bombs, featuring improved casting and larger explosive filler for a greater blast. Due to their superior performance, M.C. bombs replaced G.P. bombs by 1942.

It makes no sense that many mid to late war British planes in the game are still stuck with the obsolete G.P. bombs. Not to mention M.C bombs already existed in War Thunder, replacing G.P. with M.C. in Enlisted should be more of a copy-paste work than a mega project.

You can check the performance of G.P. bombs (and bombs of other nations) under Ordnance Stats in Enlisted Resources

Do you agree that G.P. bombs should be replaced by M.C. bombs?

Which planes would this apply to, and what bombs would get changed to what…?

I’m having trouble finding these “War Thunder M.C” bombs, that aren’t double the capacity of the regular G.P bombs…

To follow up, these are all the planes in War Thunder that used 500lb M.C and 250lb M.C bombs respectively:

The only one of these aircraft that also appears in Enlisted is the Beaufighter Mk X, however it uses RP-3 rockets not bombs in game (nothing to replace).

Now, maybe these bombs are theoretically compatible with aircraft capable of carrying the corresponding G.P bomb, but that would be quite a different change from “just alter one payload to another one in War Thunder” (because it doesn’t appear in War Thunder).

It would probably be wiser for you to select individual aircraft, and request changes to those - acknowledging that this would be a slight departure from War Thunder setups (I think though it wouldn’t be the first time Enlisted devs created their own payload, I just can’t remember which ones of the top of my head).

There are balance concerns for each aircraft to consider… there might be an argument to do this with the Tempest in BR V, for example, but less of a case for the Hurricane. So, specify which aircraft you want to change - detailing what you want them changed to, with arguments as to why - for each one.

Probably the smartest to create a new topic/suggestion for this…

The fact that thes bombs are widely available in WT is not an excuse anymore.

When the devs “fixed” the Meteor, they changed its bombs from the 1000 pounds M.C. bombs to the 500 G.P. bombs despite the Meteor not having access to any bombs except the 1000 M.C. in WT.

I agree with this though. The hurricane is a rather early war plane and should not be given the M.C. bombs.

However at BR3, the Whirlwind has only the G.P. ones making it having less effective bomb load compared to fighters at the same BR such as P-51D and Ki-100 (not all fighter obviously but still) despite being an attacker.

However, tbf there are not that many planes in game with the G.P. bombs anyway.

We are not in disagreement here…

Well sorry then, I must have read your statement a tad too fast !

I wouldn’t nessesarily mind M.C bombs on the Mosquito, Whirlwind, and the Tempest…

The rest become increasingly hard to defend…

Imo every aircraft in BR3 or above with G.P. bombs should all be changed

To be precise, the list will be:

  1. Mosquito FB Mk VI

  2. Whirlwind Mk I

  3. Tempest Mk V

  4. Meteor F Mk 3

Hurricane Mk IIb/trop and Boomerang Mk II are early war aircraft so I’ll leave them there.

Spicy. Queue the complaints of the Meteor being OP:

Its obvious that OP did not specify what planes he wanted the change for since, no sane player would buff the Meteor.

I wouldnt say that just because the meteor was changed it means that loadouts in WT no longer matters.
They still will limit the devs as even in the case of the meteor it took the devs ages to actually adjust the payload from the first public acknowledgment to implementation (probably over a year or so).

SO my guess is that if it wasnt a big deal /big effort needed to get the payload adjusted the proces wouldnt have taken so long.

Here you go
