Aircraft Battle Ratings Complete Re-Evaluation

This Project is an evaluation of Aircraft additions and changes over the last 2 years. The purpose is to create a BR tree that is more consistent across the board including additions to fill gaps and to make a more fun and “Natural” BR progression.

This has been discussed/argued and compromised in private with some enthusiastic Enlisted forum pilots, Thank you @Emperor_Yoshiro, @Conscript_Joe, and others. Now we don’t see eye to eye on everything as we have different flying styles and preferences, but ultimately agree that currently its in need of a realignment.

It is also Important to note that this perspective comes from gamers that have bothered to experience/learn “ALL” play styles available in Enlisted Over Decades of titles…FPS, tank, plane, competitive, casual…doesn’t matter.

This is not a “mains” perspective…(will back it up if requested). I may harp on about planes all the time, but I have spent FAR more time fighting on foot. Its not even close.

I know suggesting one thing at a time is favored, and that what appears to be a mass BR change proposal is the best way to torpedo a topic (But I am out of patience for the time it takes)…When it comes to plane BR changes, it is slow and inconsistent. There have been some great changes and some really odd ones. So this is a FULL review after almost 2 years to get the Air tree realigned…

“Role” Definitions: Adjusted For Enlisted:

Definitions have been adjusted for how Enlisted (not IRL) is played currently: For example Pure fighters (no Ordnance), while they are still great fighters, they are not desirable in Enlisted as they are purely situational and as such, generally inferior to Multirole Aircraft.

  • Fighter(Enlisted = multi role): Primarily Air superiority with at least some form of ordnance (The general rule applied is ordnance will be “smaller” as to not overshadow attackers of the same BR)
  • Attacker: Primarily CAS (The general rule is superior ordnance, vulnerable to fighters)
  • Situational/Niche: This is just heading to put specialized, highly situational Aircraft that lack certain abilities. These will be given a Better BR than usual, because their value is one dimensional.

Reinforcing difference between “Attacker” and “Fighter”

Enlisted has increased in HE spam on many fronts. The ordnance gets bigger but the objectives sizes and play area stay small. This compresses the HE usage to a point it can be rather oppressive when not dealt with (something the majority of players tend to be unwilling, or unable to deal with)

This also includes “Fighters” getting payloads that equal or surpass the Payload of “Attackers”. So what happens is you end up with what is essentially 2 heavily armed Attackers continuously bombing the team, instead of “ONE Attacker” and “ONE Fighter” (Currently Japan will be an exception…as they are seriously lacking attack Aircraft)

To correct this, Fighters in “CAS” configuration rivaling Attackers will be shifted to “Attacker”. Most notably Jets (We suggested this in testing).

This limits how many of the biggest payloads can be in the Field at any one time.

For example; These aircraft will NOT be in the Air at the same time:

  • Meteor/F-80 and P-47
  • Me 262 and JU188
  • Su-9 and Tu-2
  • Kikka and…(this actually helps Japan)

How to Determine Power Level:

For "ANY"plane to be actively involved in the game, it needs to perform to some degree in at least 2 of 3 areas

  • Air to Air (combination of performance and sufficient pilot controlled fire power)
  • Anti Infantry
  • Anti tank

NOTE: Performing in only “ONE” of these areas makes it “Niche” and soooo situational, its generally not worth the slot it occupies in your Deck. (Only enthusiasts like myself would bother to use them from time to time)

As for BR, this should be based on planes being grouped with adversaries of simliar ability/performance and loadouts. Generally following the plane model hierarchy, with exceptions only made in relation to “ordnance payloads” (And only when those payloads destruction isnt mirrored in a similar capicity by opponent airforces).

Example:

I will use a very basic 3 star system for a summary of how good something is in each area (this isnt to do with what BR it should be assigned).

The Spitfire MKVC/ Trop is one of the more effective fighters for Air to Air combat, however it is completely situational without ordnance, having effectively NO anti infantry or anti tank. This makes it “niche” and as such is very rare to see.

Now compare with a much later model Spitfire LF MK IX at the Same BR, which is superior in all areas apart from firepower which is neither here nor there. Not only is it amazing in aircombat, The payload (though small) is enough to give it some Anti tank and Anti infantry ability. Making it desirbale and a valuable pick for your deck.

Re-Evaluating Air Trees

  • These changes are Made with a BR ±0 Ideal outcome
  • Niche” Aircraft are given Favorable BR (-1 what they would usually be)
  • Fighters with ordnance Options available will have them added, If not available they will be “Niche
  • Planes marked with “O” are to have ordnance added/upgraded. After which BR may need adjustment
  • BR Positions are open to discussion (objectively)
  • Some really good “Multi-role” fighters are Now labelled “Attackers” (i.e. Jets)

List of Fighters Converted to Attackers
  • IAR-81 C
  • P-40 E-1 USSR
  • P-40 E-1 USA Premium
  • I-185 (M-82)
  • Meteor
  • F-80 A-5
  • Me 262 Jabo
  • Su-9
  • Kikka

List of Aircraft with Ordnance available to be added/Modified
  • Yak 7B (6x RBS-82 Rockets)
  • IL-10 (4x RBS-132 Rockets and 2x250kg FAB bomb)
  • La 5 FN (2x100kg bombs)
  • P-38J-15 (2x500lb bombs)
  • A6M2 Zero (250 Kg bomb)
  • Ki-83 (2x250KG bomb)
  • Spitfire Mk V trop (2x250lb bombs)
  • Re 2000 Series (2X50KG Bombs)
  • C.202EC (2x100kg bombs)
  • BF-109 F-2 (8x RZ.65 Rockets, 15mm Machine gun AP-I(c) Armor piercing belt)
  • Bf-109 F4 (4x50KG bomb)
  • BF-109 G6 (2 x WfR G. 21 Rockets and replace 20mm with 30mm cannon)
  • BF-109 G10 (250 Incendiary Bomb, 2x20mm gun pods)
  • BF-109 G14 (250KG bomb, 2x 20mm gun pods)
  • Bf-109 K-4 (replace with 500KG bomb for BR 5)

Each Nation has had its planes matched up with Each other in such a way that they have similar attributes, fair opportunity, potential destruction and variety. At every BR you will have good, competitive options.

BR aside, No matter what BR these planes end up, It is our recommendation that all planes are “ALL moved together” in these groups suggested (as they are currently). and not seperated, whether that be ± BR.

Japan Re-evaluated Air Tree:

NOTE: A6M2 is to have a 250KG bomb, Ki-83 is to have 2x250kg to better suit BR

Maintaining a “Natural” progression:

There are many models of the same aircraft. Some differences are effectively just side grades, others are significant enough to warrant another BR. “Niche” and “Side grade” Variants should be foldered.

List of "Niche" Planes to be Foldered, buffed or maintain lower BR
  • MiG-3
  • Yak-3
  • Spitfire Mk Vc/trop
  • Spitfire Mk V
  • P-38E
  • Re 2000 Serie 1
  • HS-129 B-3
  • Fw-190 A-1
  • Fw 190 A-4
  • C.202EC
  • Bf 109 F-4 Trop
  • Bf 109 G-10
  • BG 109 G-14
  • B5N2 (this is an exception, although its Decent at anti tank and anti Infantry, Having no other weapons is a major disadvantage)
Natural Plane Model Progression (Hierarchy Reference only)

Spitfire Mk VB/trop (niche)> Spitfire Mk Vc/trop (niche) > Spitfire LF Mk IX

Bf-109 E-7 > Bf-109 F-1 > Bf-109 F-2 > Bf-109 F-4/trop (Niche) > Bf-109 G-6 > Bf-19 G14 (niche) > Bf-109 G-10 (niche)> Bf-19 K-4

Fw 190 A-1 (niche) > Fw-190 A-4 (niche) > Fw-190 A-8 > Fw-190 D-9 > Fw 190 D-12

BF110 C-6 > BF110 C-7 > BF110 F-2 ? BF110 G-2

Yak-1 > Yak-7B > Yak-3 (niche) > Yak 9T > Yak 9K

La-5FN > La-7

IL-2 (1941) > IL-2-37 > IL 2M type 3 > IL 10

We believe that with updated role definitions, ordnance additions to fighters, and the re-drawing of the line between “fighter” and “attacker”, will “help” improve the experience across many areas of the game (This is just one of many complimentary changes that are needed). This realignment of BRs and Ordnance additions gives old assets another breath of life and ensures all planes and nations have an even chance and similar capabilities.

This also leaves room for More models of high performance propellor aircraft to fill BR 5 and combat jets (Spitfire Mk 22, Bearcat, Ta 152, Yak 3U, Ki-84 Hei)

Thanks

These adjustments are necessary to remove as many “Niche” aircraft as possible, and to provide options/variety to various aircraft/Nations.

A way more sensible take on aircraft balance than whatever non-system we currently have, and I hope all/most of this suggestions content changes gets introduced.

You finished nice ^^ Air combat will be much more fun with ground attacker being real thing not like now

They could do something such as this for a “major update” and I’d be happy. It would truly be a “major fix” of gameplay in truth.

Right now, air gameplay across ALL factions, is in a sorry state.

Very reasonable changes, though I personally dont agree with every single detail, this would be a huge a improvement to the game as it is.
Moving attacker aircrafts to BR1 is something I wanted to suggest myself. Since making attackers more relevant in BR1 will probably increase aircraft use thus making fighter aircraft more useful in BR1 as well.

But sadly I doubt most people are going to like this because they will find it too radical (not wanting to give up their IAR81, P-38J or P-40E advantage ect.)

cool concept

most likely

I mean they are still there to be used as before (and just as good)…they just aren’t fighters anymore.

also, its a pretty significant buff to the Roster of everybody in how much becomes usable and relevant. :man_shrugging:

IDK why but people think that powercreeping leads to diversified content rather then buffing and nerfing weapons/vehicles to a similar power level.

Planes without any CAS capabilities should be transformed into legacy planes, thus be removed from tech trees.

Nice, only problem is

Jets are still here, and worse, the cringe Su-9. They should be removed.

well if we get BR ±0, we can lock them in BR 5 and forget that BR exists

Very possible.

Yet again, this suggestion is somewhat of a necessity IF devs did not abandon Enlisted like many people here started to think.

Air play needs urgent fixing… and I’m not even talking about Focke Wulfs flight models!

At the bare minimum, the br fixes and class switch changes (example jets to attackers) should get implemented…

Then in our Utopia, better loadouts, or even, ah, I almost dare not dream it, CHOICE of loadout…

What about Br6?

I suppose, but foldering them isn’t much different, mostly has the same effect but still allowing the very few to obtain something they may want (for whatever reason)

Or they should make plane MGs do actual damage so that they could at least strafe and be effective. But DF coding is so wonky it’d probably break 100 things down the line.

Mgs aren’t the problem when you want to strafe.

Most pilots know it’s the render distance…

Yup, its much more effective to spray rockets than trying to pixel snipe people on the ground that you can barely see more than 100 meters away…

Well For me the WW 2 experience ends at BR 4. Not against BR 6, but id say that comes after we FINALLY get BR ±0
