New pilots crash all the time (sometimes they even score a few kills before doing so), how do you tell them from those who suicide on purpose?
I dislike suicide bombers as much as the next guy, I just don’t want the game to punish those who are simply new to the game.
Also, I was just in a match where my plane was damaged by an AA, and I was pointed right at it, so I launched my rockets, killed a few guys next to it, and then crashed, because my elevators were destroyed.
Maybe not. The players who do this usually were on the ground getting pushed, then spawn air to counter it then back to infantry. 1 minute would mean that player is probably not using the role to exploit.
If you get kills in a plane, and then die inside a minute, it counts as a kamikaze.
What I’m saying is that in battle a minute is a lot more time than you might think, and you can easily get shot down legitimately inside of a minute of a bombing run without it being a kamikaze.
Unfortunately not well. It’s been an issue since 2012 in War Thunder and while they keep trying to improve it, the games still don’t like giving proper kill credit sometimes.
you kamikaze idea is a good one except sometimes i pull ab to late from my stuka bombing an crash and ddidnt want it so i cant fly anymore because i amde a mistake thath is not so good
The simpler fix is to spawn airplanes about a 30-60 seconds flight time behind the supply point. This way, actual kamikaze will need about 3 minutes to get to the point and Normal pilots will be just fine. 3 minutes is more than enough for whole tactical situation to change and you need a larger time investment from the start to fly.
A single dedicated AA crew is a heavy investment, more than one at a time is suicidal tunnel vision.
A player actively manning an AA gun is an entire squad taken out of the battle which can’t always perform the role it intends to, only has a moderate chance at best of being successful, and really isn’t making that big an impact if it is successful.
Really come to think of it, the amount of bodies you’re taking out of battle to man an AA gun is probably the same amount of bodies that a good plane will be taking down in the same amount of time as well.
So the way I see it, the only profitable application to the AA gun is to keep it unmanned but on hand while you’re pulling typical point defense in case you want to run over to it when you hear a plane coming.
When I bring out my premium engineers at Normandy I have 4 men.
I build everything until I can’t build anymore stuff because I run out of materials.
And I am always happy seeing someone hopping in. Mostly they will shoot at infantry though.
Then enemy bombers come and take out 15 soldiers at once - so I try to catch them as good as I can. It’s a war game, we need to shoot down enemy planes with our planes and anti air guns.
We can stand next to our AA gun doing other stuff until we hear an air bandit apporaching to get back
into AA. In the meantime we can build ammo boxes, anti tank guns, sandbags, MG!, all of it.
I don’t know how this qualifies as “a whole squad is taken out of battle, makes no difference”.
I downed a few with AA. It’s really slow but you need to think ahead. Where is the plane coming from,
so where do I point my gun beforehand.
