AI upgrade

Now when we have polls we could see THE REAL correlation between people who prefer to play vs walking spare tool/weapon or who actually wants to have at least firing assist from his/her squad bots.

  • I want to see AI being updated to be on a level of average player at least in terms of reaction
  • I want to see AI being updated to be on a level of top players including decision making
  • I like to play with current state of things of AI/I don’t care about AI at all

Reason of suggestion: I noticed bots can’t react for 5 seconds while ppl running at the tank with explosive/molotov, which is bull***t.

I want to update the AI’s appearance, add scripted scenes, idle animations, more phrases, the ability to snuggle up to shelters in different ways, interact with the landscape, for example, the ability to shoot blindly from behind shelters (with very low accuracy (it’s even possible to make sure that they don’t hit anything like that on purpose)), the ability to put weapons on bipods on shelters, new animations of shooting from bipods, animations of reloading depending on the skill level of the fighter, animations that appear from the damage received (a fighter of the first rank after receiving damage during downtime will writhe in pain and press the wound with all his might, and a fighter of a high rank, only press the wound (they must it only takes a couple of seconds to match the high dynamics of the game)

I can go on for a long time what needs to be done with AI to make it SEEM smart and alive, we don’t need really smart AI, we need beautiful and spectacular bots that will create not the effect of 100-on-100 matches, but the impression of a real battle, immersiveness should be more important than the intelligence of bots

This poll doesn’t encompass the complexity of AI bots in the game in the slightest. Sure, we all hate Enlisted bots at some point. But it requires fine adjustments. Everytime there’s an slight improvement in the bots aggressiveness and reaction time, then some players immediately always complain about getting shot through bushes and getting sniped across the map. Forcing them to dial it down, and we’re stuck in this tug of war, between making the bots terminators of the hardest difficulty or just fun easy targets for the player. (I actually don’t give a damn about being killed through a bush, but it’s an example. I in fact like shooting through bushes while fighting, even if I can’t directly see the enemy. Because that’s what a soldier would do. And I’ve got some good kills like that.)

But anyways. Let’s start by having them be more proactive in battle. Let them build fortifications, sets traps, try to attack tanks more often instead of just being easy targets in the open, better situational awareness for AI tanks, specially when the player marks a enemy tank within range as they seem to clearly ignore them. However, lately I’ve seen an improvement of the amount of rallies being built by the AI. I like that, and I want to see more of that.

I would like them to take cover and shoot in direction when im shooting instead of standing still

To be honest, I don’t care if my own personal squad AI bots every kill anyone, I just want them programmed with basic common sense.

  1. Follow the orders given to them, no exception. I shouldn’t be ordering my bots to stay on the X here, meanwhile one by one they move, they’re either running outside, moving to stand in front of a door or window where they are immediately shot.
  2. Keep up, Run when the user player runs. (they already mirror the user when it comes to laying down). There is zero reason your AI bots should be several hundred meters behind you when crossing the battlefield.
  3. Use the same entrance and exit the user player uses. No reason what so ever my bots should be using the front door of a building when I entered through a rear window.
  4. Stop moving in front of me when I am shooting or engaging the enemy, that is basic gun common sense, you don’t run in front of shooting people. :joy: That shouldn’t even have to be implied, that is the first thing you’re taught before you ever handle a gun.
  5. Have the bots STOP trying to engage the enemy when you are in a building ordering them to come to you. Example, I lose a ton of bots because instead of just running from one building where you saved them to another building right acrost the street, all the dumbasses will stop on their way at some point and engage the enemy. When I call them, I do not want them playing Rambo along the way, I want them where ordered them.

I have come to the conclusion that our Dev’s are incapable of, or are unwilling to just give us competent bots. I think they were strictly made to be cannon fodder, or the Dev’s just don’t have the skills to give them basic common sense. If they can’t be given common sense, then at the very minimum, make them basic enough to follow orders and not deviate. Make them invisible to our own bullets, so when they are running and standing in front of us while we are engaged with the enemy, they are not blocking and absorbing our bullets. That is a death sentence to the idiot bot and to the player as the enemy will shoot back killing both.

Nope, I don’t want player Rambots, I just want them to NOT be retarded.

If I be developer I would make searching game longer, but with no ai At ALL.
Ofc AI needs to change, no question there, as right now, getting true bushes is bad.

Isnt there a squad setting where they can be set to.aggressive and engage on contact or.not? I just tend to run them away from battles when wanting to use them from point A to B without the risk of engagement and set them back to allow me to take point to as far as the orders then auto cancelled. Then leadt i can engage with enemy and my squad doesnt.

You can set them to be aggressive or passive. I used to let them be aggressive, but was losing 70-80% of my bots before I could ever use them, so, I switched to keeping them close and set them to passive, and the result is? I am still losing 70-80% of my bots before I can use them. They are merely cannon fodder. It doesn’t matter, they are just to stupid to survive no matter how hard I try to hold their hands and babysit them. :joy:

A few games ago, playing in Tunisia I was in the cap point upstairs and had killed everyone in the downstairs, so I called my sole remaining bot who was saved in the building about 20 meters away. The idiot ran out the door and halfway to my building, then he just stopped. IDK why, but he stopped and stood there for several seconds till someone shot him. So, even if the coast is clear, they are looking to die, which is why I say the Dev’s just use them as cannon fodder. Either that or no one on Gaijin’s staff can program a bot, unless they are computer enemy Terminator bots. My bots are all have PTSD and have death wishes.

I hope that in the offensive, the losses caused by the ai before it makes contact with the enemy can be reduced. Even though you had been crawling forward all along, you got up to clear the enemy. This action was not conspicuous, but the ai stood up by themselves, and as a result, all the team members were cleared. I know gaijin doesn’t want the team ai to keep crawling across the entire map.(For more details, see the land crawling swimming bug in cs2), but at least he hopes that when in close contact with the player within 5 meters, the ai can have an action command to stay on the ground. This is clearly a safe distance.
In fact, the ai itself doesn’t even know where it needs to speed through and whether the cover is effectively utilized. It’s even worse than the distorted soldiers of active matter who can quickly climb over walls and move slowly near buildings

let’s get rid of their ability to shoot you through concealment first.

Yeah, 90% of the time my radioman always dies first, it can’t just be coincidence.

I think that trying to buff the reaction speed of bots would just make the game less fun. When you’re making gunfights again literal bots less consistent then you’re taking control away from the player, which is not gonna go well with a community that already complains about teammates 24/7.

That and the fact that making bots better against infantry doesn’t make them any better against vehicles, so you’d see a higher percentage of players spamming vehicles because it would be the best way to farm bots.

Bots are a resource, you park them somewhere safe, you protect them, or you lose them. What needs to be done to fix bots is to give the player more control over their bots, not to make bots self sufficient and something to just forget about once you spawn in.
