AI Status and Suggestions

after many matches, and many feedbacks, i would like to make an overhall post about AI.

many improvements has been made since last alpha test. wheter it’s aim accuracy, or behaviors.

  • when capturing a position, they tend to cover at 360° which it’s very neat, and accurate.

  • they usually change position in order to avoid bullets and not being sitting targets.

  • if the player crouch, they AI will also crouch or even prone.

  • stars (perks) affect the “level” of the bot

  • ( can’t confirm ) the AI, in rare occasion, seems to use grenades.

  • they IA is way more responsive when they are not mooving. i think it’s a good thing, because in real life, i’m not sure how much you would be precise if you keep leaning to the right and left, or duck and stand up again multiple times like a players does. i don’t think the AI it’s supposed or can even do that either.

  • the AI seems to cover more the others memeber of the squad when running

overhall, the bots are unique in this game, they play a huge role. they really makes the battlefield more alive. wether making the whole game experience hard, or “easy”.
but it also came with problems. which, i link with possible suggestion to improve this experience better.

  • If AI putted in bushes, they can be devastating.
    Solution; i don’t understand match about coding, and i’m very sorry. but i think for solve this issue, the range of action should be decreased when there are threes and bushes, in order to make it a more realistic and less painfull cross bushes and threes.

  • AI don’t realod when they are out of combat, resulting in slightly disadvantegs because the quad that already fired a couple of bullets and didn’t reload, will die more instantly for the same reasons of reloading the weapon in the face of the enemy. while, in real life, soldiers tend to reload their magazine when they are on safety, and most of all, whey they are not in combat with just a couple of bullets left.
    Sulution; the “affect” perk for the health, when not in combat, should be applied for the ammonution ( if possible ) so, whenever the AI are not in combat, they can reload. because most of the time, the AI when switching to one or another, after wiping out a squad, they are still with just 1 bullet, or empty mag.

  • AI Path it’s still a nightmare. in some crucial points, you see an enemy squad advancing or entering in buildings one by one rather than spaced out, and togheter. or even worse, stucked somewhere in the map, or behind sandbags because feels like they don’t realize ther’s an object in their way.

Solution: ugh… maybe add more navemash for bots? but even there… i’m not sure.

  • AI doesn’t know how to change weapon
    in many occasions, i switched between my teammate/squadmate, in order to select the bomb grenade and destroy the enemy tank. i switched to the first soldier, and he didn’t had the bomb, just the fragremantion grenade, so i switched again, and with the second soldier, i completed my initial task. but when i look at the first soldier that i took with just the frag, he just stands there with the grenade in his and. doing nothing. rather than leave the grenade and take his rifle back.

  • AI doesn’t know what’s spacing is
    they don’t space out much often. so if a grenade land on their feat, they just stand next to each other. resuting in a easy kill, and when aim and firing at someone, they move your aim and your character it self because they tend to be sticky at you.
    Solution; i was thinking of increasing the distance between each other.

In conclusion;

as i said before, the bots are a vital part for this game. improvements has been made, and many others will have to come. despite about the bad feedbacks about the AI, people still have to remember that AI will never replace players, as it’s not the main task/goal, i think they are OK at the moment and yet again, makes the battlefield more huge and experiecing. , surely they need some tweakes. but overhall it’s just matter of time i hope.

I think that bushes could be set up as visual barriers for AI perception, I also think they should have a minimum response time of like 0.5 seconds when attacked from behind.
In return, I think the “level” of the bot should all be 1-upped, so 1* now should behave as the current 2*, 2* as 3* and so on.

damn, tell me about it. This is a massive problem with the AI, its extra fun when they have two options, A. Go thro a window, B. go thro a road to the front door and get killed by the enemy, they choose the option B.

AI be Like:

i’m just a simple AI. if my squad leader told me to get inside a building, i decide to take a panoramic walking-view of the battlefield by going around the building and just to by the door insthead of using covers to get through, or just simply by opening a window and get inside.

there’s a grenade on the floor? i pretend i never seen that.

hold on a second, we are getting shelled by the arty on our position?

i can already think about many memes on AI in this game.

but as i said, it’s just an alpha, and for be an alpha, it’s still amazing.

I just heard that “some players” shown on your scoreboard is also AI… A whole AI/bot squad to fill the match.

uhm? could you please be more specific?

According to one of my friends, he dissembled the game file and found a list of bots names. Pretty 1/2 of the “players” has the same name with that list.

yeah, i discussed about that with another member.

i never thought about that, and yet, i don’t understand why they managed to do such thing.
but now that you let me think about it…

and… i think it’s because enlisted at the moment, doesn’t have many enlisted testers. which it’s totally fine i guess. starting with just a few people, in order to be a little bit organized and not have hundreds of complain and feedbacks at the same time.

right now, it’s quite civilized. but as you can see, there are a lot thing to reed and discuss as it’s our “job”. so yeah, first we improve as we can, and second we think about more members.

so the others can join and leave good thoughts about it rather than bad feedbacks. but it’s a little hard since the game it’s amazing :smiley:
or that is what i think.
