A suggestion to maybe make AI a bit more fun and feel more realistic is to perhaps code in spots where an AI squad member will take position, say for example if you tell them to hold in a house, they will occupy the windows and one will cover the door of the room. This would help to create a far more realistic scene for the player while also giving the AI vantage points to shoot from.
Right now, the clump that the AI create forces me to place them in locations where they are just mowed down easily, which basically makes me see them as respawn tokens more than actual tools to assist.
The only thing I could see as an issue with this suggestion is the AI retaking positions where another AI had died and thus it just becomes a killzone, but I am sure this can be circumvented.
I agree with this, the AI just clumps in a tight blob waiting for the enemy to throw AT grenade or what, without taking cover when they could, they could also code it so when you crouch they crouch and go prone when you go prone, if they’re not assigned to a defence or attack order

Also had a think about this. When you order your squad to attack a location i.e. a capture point, instead of them just making a B line to the point they’ll instead fight their way towards it, taking cover along the way and not making them selves exposed, they’ll throw grenades at enemy infantry and TnT at enemy tanks.
There could be 2 versions of this, the one motioned above and another where you can order them to charge the enemy location like they do now, but they wont fire at enemy infantry along the way, they’ll just sprint to the location

I wish you had better control overall of the squad. I really like the way the old PS2 game Socom US Navy Seals handled squad commands where you could order individual soldiers to do things such as hold, follow, freefire/hold fire (unless fired upon) move to point stealth, move to point aggressive, take out enemy, open door slowly, open door quickly. Not all of those are applicable to this game but its gives an idea how versatile the squad commands were.

I would suggest that they perhaps follow in what mount and blade does, and allow your units to create different formations, and assign your troops to different squads, and then give seperate squads orders. If that makes sense, or just a order to find cover or spread out
I think that would make it a bit too complicated, believe it or not. Sure, having bots being able to maybe cover flanks would be cool, but realizing that in an interface that isn’t going to require too much input is going to be, at best, difficult. It is a good idea though, I’ll give you that
