I think that a lot of people, possibly a majority; want their bots to be good, but not the bots they’re fighting against. They don’t want to actually be killed by bots, that’s just unfair.
Personally, I’d prefer it if the bots were good enough that I couldn’t tell whether or not they weren’t real players; but at the same time I don’t want them pulling the same cheesy gamer moves that makes it feel like a low rent death match. It’s a fine line to walk

Ai for me don’t need to be killing machines. Neither my team nor the enemy AI I fight against.

Brothers in arms found that good balance.
Brothers in arms was a single player game using linear maps with predetermined battle locations and fixed cover positions. The ai was not smart, they just had fewer choices to make. All you could do was tell them what cover to hide behind and who to shoot at.
Everyone looks back at that game with rose tinted glasses, but unfortunately it’s nothing like the environment that the ai has to deal with in enlisted.
Like I said before, they could easily make the ai more aggressive and deadly, but people don’t like being out played by bots. I wish they could navigate the environment a little better, but that’s probably a map design issue as much as ai.
