As we all know, there are three universal tracked vehicles in the game. The earliest light reconnaissance variant belongs to Britain, and the other two are assigned to the USSR and Japan. Historically, both nations had lend-lease or captured variants, though the game hasn’t recreated all the details, only implementing vehicle-mounted machine guns.
[Just kidding. The Soviet machine gun isn’t historically accurate at all, and the Japanese one is also a sloppy implementation.]

What I want to bring up is that unlike other armed APCs, the vehicle-mounted Bren gun on the Bren Carrier handles terribly. Compared with the MG 34 and M2 Browning, it is extremely difficult to control and aim, especially with its very limited firing arc. Logically speaking, it is just a pole mounted on a circular ring mount. It should at minimum offer a 180-degree traverse range.
You can barely get kills with it while the vehicle is moving. Yet this small vehicle features an exposed gunner who can only reliably hit targets when the vehicle comes to a stop, making the whole setup rather lackluster.
This is the core problem. The roof-mounted machine gun has awful handling, with noticeable lag when turning left and right. Aiming is difficult and landing hits is a struggle, so the gun mount might as well be nothing but decoration.
Even if I switch to the 4th-seat machine gunner and press B to have the soldier fire from shoulder arms, the handling feels better than using the mounted Bren.
I consider this a critical flaw, as the roof machine gun is practically useless in combat. Its performance urgently needs adjustments. Otherwise, compared to its Soviet and Japanese equivalents, the British Bren Carrier suffers an unfair disadvantage simply because it was added to the game earlier
