I know some people dislike carriers in the Pacific, often because they believe it gives them a speed/momentum/height disadvantage, but personally I like it when different maps/campaigns have unique features – like the carriers take-off and air defence system where you can lure your opponent.
Also, the process of taking off just feels right to me, instead of spawning instantly and mahically out of thin air.
Last pacific game i played i was no brain bombing with kikka when i was chased by xa 38 and even damaged… i simply ran to my carrier while spamming rudders looking back until he turned and now he’s dead
it’s such a stupid, cheesy and gimmicky mechanic only for what? To slow down plane users?
This game is too fast for this… giving takeoff would give the tank an extra minute to HE spam before i can kill him… since i know that is such a strong topic.
How about this since you say that you find it a neat feature… which for someone trying to immerse theirselves into a historically inaccurate arcade ww2 game is totally understandable.
Make it an option… don’t force it… not every player likes this clearly as you even mention.
And even allow landing and repairing if you choose to take off… giving a reason to actually do it besides novelty.
So since it’s disliked by the majority why should it be added? (There is some irony here from other discussions)
for this to work, devs would either need to add AA protected airfields or multiple airfields and some spawn protection. @Lookin4n8Bal-live is right, the maps are really small and its too easy to run back to the airfield for protection.
I like airfields as a repair mechanic, all maps should have that, BUT all aircraft needs to start from the air and airfields are only used for repairs and are NOT protected, if you need to repair, thats on you. If someone catches you with your pants off, its your fault.
I get this concern, but ultimately whan I definitely suggest is taking off from runways, at least on this new map, and it has to be protected at least somehow.
Maybe a weaker AA, first just warning you eith nearby explosions that you’ll get shot at if you continue, or maybe indeed 2-3 separate runways to choose from, so that the enemy plane can’t just camp it, or spawn protection for a while.
But the main idea I suggest is some variety among maps/campaigns, like back when Stalingrad had bomber raids, flame tanks and ampulomets, and Pacific had carriers, spare lunge mines and floating tanks.
Maybe a new location/map set, e.g. Ukraine/Belarus/Baltics could have airfields for USSR and Germany, since there was indeed a lot of them on both sides of the front, that could add a bit of a new feeling to those maps as well.
Air-spawn for all aircraft, except the first 1.5 minutes, where you can choose to spawn immediately as an aircraft but you need to take off from the ground/ship (effective spawn-delay for aircraft, whilst still giving you something to do).
Move carriers and future airfields further away, noticeably so compared to re-arm points (added benefit of also giving you more time to pick up energy and altitude when taking-off).
You mention variety… then want to bring the gimmick of pacific to other campaigns… which to be fair there is no “variety” in only one campaign having it… it’s more so unique.
And the first comment… i won’t derail here but i think you can get an idea of what i was referring to… i just like to acknowledge when what i say has some irony to it especially when ive seen others use logic to get what they want but then to go against stuff they dislike.

Also i’ll just spell it out… i’m saying that this feature is disliked so it should be completely removed but i simultaneously am against the removal of body armor despite community being against it… noting the irony in my comment… its not that deep but ive said why i did it.
I don’t need a poll to recognize a bad feature of a game.

And also… this is low hanging fruit, every crybaby likes to whine about planes while they are shelling infantry and then they get suddenly bombed
No one who voted for it is taking into account that… and such i then suggest we add it so you have to load your tank shell by shell in the ammo point.
Or drastically increase its spawn distance.
You can’t slow down one part of then game when it’s a core component… the vehicles are like war thunders arcade not realistic.
If you want to do this then we must give all the vehicles the attributes from war thunder realistic… and then show me the poll results on that one because that’s actually a fair and not biased suggestion to nerf planes masked only to further the novelty.
You don’t play it so i wouldn’t expect you to understand the significance of planes when playing against BRV germany or US but its constant… you lose every open objective to a tank so please explain why when he’s shelling point after driving for 15 seconds i have to spend 2 minutes to kill him?

Why am i taking this so deep? Because planes are the only thing that is preventing me from being like everyone else who complains the second they get their squad shelled by an 88.
In my opinion the only proper counter is a plane… you just stay in the air then don’t get killed well why doesn’t the tank have to have some bs rule? Why not infantry?
Dont even waste your dead skin cells typing out “use guerillas, use AT”… yeah… you kill a tank sitting in the greyzone of mountain pass after the first objective… let alone that’s if you don’t get shot through the many bushes… which is also the reason why AT is ineffective against most… and honestly that requires multiple tries or good aim which first will get you noticed and killed and second why doesn’t the tank require skill?
Please… give me one reason for gameplay other than your novelty… to slow down planes? No such reason to… slow down everything else than.
Tank after tank spawn so why should the plane have to take off? They get no such nerf and do 5x as much damage when not taken care of… WHICH IS HALF OF WHAT A PLANE IS FOR.
My position has for a long time been that everyone gets ground spawns for the first 1:30 of a game, as a indirect spawn delay at the start of the game.
Afterwards, everyone gets to start in the air, airfields/carriers just become a place to repair on.
