Add the Ohka (Japan’s Kamikaze Rocket Plane)

Hello everyone,
I’d like to present an interesting idea that could meaningfully strengthen the Japanese faction on the battlefield. Specifically, I’m talking about introducing the Japanese suicide rocket aircraft Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka (“Cherry Blossom”).

How the Ohka Could Work In-Game

I imagine its implementation as a mixture of bomber mechanics and paratrooper mechanics:

  • A warning alarm (similar to the bombing alert) would sound across the battlefield, notifying players of an incoming kamikaze threat.

  • The Ohka would initially be attached to a Mitsubishi G4M bomber, which would fly over the battlefield for several seconds. This would work similarly to the paratrooper spawn mechanic — defenders would have a chance to react and possibly shoot down the bomber before the Ohka is released.

  • Once released, things get serious: in reality, the Ohka could reach speeds of up to 900 km/h, making it extremely difficult to shoot down. The pilot would have one task only — crash into a ground target in a kamikaze attack.

Explosion Power

The Ohka carried 1,200 kg of explosives, which would result in an enormous detonation capable of destroying:

  • heavily armored vehicles,

  • large groups of infantry,

  • fortified defensive positions.

Yes, it’s strong — maybe even borderline overpowered. But the Japanese faction is somewhat disadvantaged compared to the Allies, and soon also the Soviets. A special, one-shot weapon like this could provide the Japanese with a unique and historically accurate advantage.

Balancing Restrictions

To keep things fair and avoid excessive chaos, here are a few balancing ideas:

  • Only one Ohka can be in the air at any given time.

  • After it’s used, a cooldown prevents anyone else from spawning another for a certain period.

  • The Ohka would appear only in late-war battles (BR IV–V).

This prevents half the team from gradual rushing in with Ohkas and turning the battlefield into complete madness.

Conclusion

What do you think?
Would you support adding the Ohka as a special Japanese kamikaze aircraft? I believe it would give Japan a unique tactical option while significantly enriching the gameplay and atmosphere of late-war battles.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

That could really shake up gameplay. I wish the devs would experiment with more interesting features like this.

There is even more kamikaze planes that can be added and more kamikaze stuff even explosive vests and trucks:

Sure… if US can get JB-2, Germans V1/2 and Soviets 10kh rockets.

You suggest any of those though and people go ballistic… but when you do it under the guise of japan it’s A OK.

Not gonna happen
We don’t even have towed gun in game, you expect there can be a plane attached on another plane?

And suicide missile isn’t something new for game, that’s basicly how sweaters play their plane

In fact, the Gaijin production team’s lack of capability has made it difficult to create such a complex new project; the idea is beautiful, but reality is cruel.

I suddenly realized that in BF5, indeed, calling for support is always super support, it’s always like this. And one shot has an extremely powerful effect. I think this can be used to look forward to providing support for 3rd or 4th level communication soldiers in the future.

You’re right. But this thing is designed for impact purposes. Unlike modern aircraft which would be restricted from directly crashing into the ground, this one doesn’t even carry any direct penalties. And it’s quite interesting. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a manned bomb aircraft in a war scenario.

This was accomplished, and from it we could get a glimpse of the final desperate actions of Japan at that time. The East Prussian Special Forces of Germany could even allow the parachutists to land after a bombing attack. But for Japan: Sir, why is my cabin door welded shut? Why is my fuel only half full?
