As we can see, Soviets lacks of a balancing BR5 tanks. Both IS-2 not only has poor armor that can’t take Germany 75mm L70 shot or 88mm shot, but also has pretty long reloading times due to 122mm gun. So adding early models of T-54 will be a good choice
It has perfect 100mm D-10T cannon that fires powerful shots with decent reload times, strong armor (120mm UFP, 180mm for front turret) and acceptable mobility.
If this idea can’t accept that just copy standard T-44 from WT and stop adding useless weapons for tech tree PLZ

All work, as all 3 passed or were undergoing field trials in early/mid 1945.
T-54 obr45 is simply most powerful variant of the three, but the field tests were quite satisfactory at the time. Had war continued into 1946 it could have seen combat service.
IF War thunder ever gets this model variant (since they’re usually ports) it would work best as event or premium potentially.

So maybe it’s better to do it this way?:
T-44 (T-44-85) in Soviet TT on 4BR and T-44-100 in Soviet TT on 5BR.
And T-54 of 1945 years on 5 BR like premium/event

the best “what if tank”…Prototypes in TT has always been lame, when they nudge out ACTUAL ww 2 iconic stuff that was used.
It could always be worse. Like the commonwealth where you have to buy (or event) most of their Iconic mass used vehicles

Putting the T-54 behind an event or paywall would have a far more negative effect to the game than the “lameness” of having a prototype in the techtree. Never thought I would see the day where people would actively ask for the game to be pay to win…
What “ACTUAL ww 2 iconic stuff” would the addition of the T-54 into the tech tree nudge out anyways? The IS-2 1944 is pretty much as good as we can get if we’re only looking at stuff that saw widespread service during WW2.

There are plenty of premium vehicles that are far stronger than tech tree…and they rarely show up in battle…and as for p2w, doesnt protect them from the same bomb that removes everyone else.

The T-54 would be broken, same thing with the T-44-100. I don’t know why the forums are suddenly so obsessed with giving the Soviets the best tank in the game, but it’s ridiculous.

The T-44-100 would already be a bad addition to the game, so anything better would be even worse.
Are Soviet players scared that body armor is gonna get removed to the point where they now need to try to get Russia the best tank in the game in its TT.

T44 100 would not be the best tank in the game. The turret is extremely weak and can be penned by br 3 panzers, tiger 2h has better HE damage and the 100 mm cannon has 11 seconds reload while tiger 2 has 8.5 seconds. Tiger 2h would still win t44 100 in everything but it would provide soviets with a more fair fighting chance than is-2 21 second reload. As for t54 i cannot say anything since it isn’t in warthunder thus probably wont get added

Extremely weak is pushing it, starting at BR3 German tanks get the best AT in the game so they CAN pen the T-44 turret, but even then it’s still gonna be a volumetric nightmare for the BR3 and BR4 cannons.
In terms of firepower both the Tiger II and T-44-100 would be fairly similar. They both have strong enough cannons to easily one tap any other tank they come across while still being able to pen each other’s turret easily. The T-44-100 gets a 50% larger HE shell, but the King Tiger has a 2.4 second faster reload speed and more total rounds. The MG-34 is better than the DT-29, but the roof mounted DSHK is better than the roof mounted MG-34.
But where the T-44-100 beats out the Tiger II, and the reason I think it would be the best tank in the game, is it’s armor and it’s mobility. It would be a tank with the firepower and front armor to match the King Tiger with the mobility of a T-34. A lot of people try to downplay mobility, but it’s a crucial factor in the strength of a vehicle. A faster tank is one that can reposition quicker, retreat if it’s hit or in a bad spot, dodge bombs and rockets, dodge explosive packs, flank with a lower chance of getting caught, etc etc.
The reason I think the T-44-100’s armor would make it the best tank in the game is not because it has the front armor profile to match the King Tiger, but because of it’s side armor. The T-44-100 would have the same resistance to explosive packs and TNT charges as the KV-1, making it much more difficult to deal with as infantry since it would require either jumping on top of it with a TNT charge or getting an explosive pack underneath it/getting lucky with how it rolls on the engine deck.
No nation should get a King Tiger equivalent, and no nation should get something better than a King Tiger. The King Tiger was the be all end all of tanks in Europe and I’d prefer to keep it that way, just like how I’d prefer the Soviets to keep their broken assault weapons, the Americans to keep their broken aircraft (RIP Meteor 1,000 lbs bombs), and the Japanese to keep their honor.

The turret is much weaker than KT. Tiger 2s strenght is the fact that only br 5 tanks can kill it from the front. It can easily shrug off uptiered br 4 t34 85s and 76w shermans. T44 100 would be vulnerable to even br 3 panzer 4s as well as br 4 panthers and tiger 1s. T44 100 does have better mobility but in the cramped maps of enlisted it is not as important feature as better armour and better gun.

The T-44-100 turret is similar to the IS-2 turret, a volumetric nightmare that only gets worse the less pen your gun has. Even with the KwK43 I try not to aim for T-34-85 turrets because of volumetrics, which is something you never have to worry about with the King Tiger. Generally with the IS-2 a cupola shot is the best you can go for if you’re in a BR4 tank, it’s the same case if you’re in a T-34-85 facing a King Tiger. But none of that really matters if you can’t get the first shot off, which is how you win tank duels.
The point is that you’re overplaying a Panzer IV being able to pen the T-44-100 turret, because the T-44-100 would still be a monster in a downtier just like the King Tiger. And just like with the King Tiger you wouldn’t be immune to BR4 tanks, my T-34-85 can attest to that.
