It’s completely ridiculous that Soviets can wear a giant slab of metal over their torso and move around completely unbothered.
There should be a drawback to getting a free -10% damage to your whole torso front and back (even though the armor doesnt cover the back)
There should be a stamina drain penalty about as harsh as carrying a light machinegun. This isn’t that crippling and can easily be remedied with certain perks, but at very least there’s no more freebie damage reduction.
This would improve the balance and diversity of the game by adding pro’s and con’s to wearing body armor instead of there being an objectively better choice when considering what to wear.
The problem with 10% damage reduction is that it messes with damage break points - because 10% is all you need to turn German SMGs from a two hit kill into a three hit kill.
If Germany had body armor instead of soviets - the shots to kill for Soviet SMGs wouldn’t change, because 7.62 TT deals enough damage to not change to a 4 hit kill.
10% damage reduction specifically only effects German low BR gameplay - G41? Turns to two hit kill, Armaguerra? Turns into two hit kill, all 9mm SMGs? Turn into three hit kills.
While on the other hand STG, MGs, G43, FG42 have high enough damage to only get their damage drop effected.
Again, Soviet SMGs have higher rate of fire because they deal less damage than German SMGs - which simply isnt true anymore when considering even the slightest damage reduction.
Why do you “illogical” people constantly want to Nerf things or remove them? The exact opposite should be taking place. You’re killing the game! Nobody wants to play with underpowered weapons—nor does anybody want to play a game that is too restrictive!
BR5 Germany got equalized with US by introduction of weapons like T20, Ofenrohr and Super Pershing
Meanwhile body armor:
cuts 1 shot range on SF and ARs by 50m
Makes surviving HE much more likely
Makes essentially all German SMGs 3 shot and even 4 shot at ranges
Makes G41 always 2 shot
Makes 2 our of 3 semis in German arsenal always 2 shot (one of which is TT btw)
Makes your downed chance significantly higher
Makes Type Hei Auto always 2 shot (if you play customs or Manchuria comes)
And it’s on a nation that has one of the best weapon lineups in the entire game on BR2, BR3 and BR5
Honestly unsalvageable amounts of bullshit without just removing the 10% damage reduction. I don’t want the game to be more restrictive - I don’t want it to be bullshit. If anything body armor forces you into equipping it on all of your soldiers to be the strongest
Just remove the 10% reduction, it’s that simple to fix it
i find it much easier coming to an acceptance of this unique ability than trying to make a pointless effort in adjusting the blatant soviet bias that exists.
Simply get better, kill and t-bag those who use body armor.
While everything that you wrote may be true (and you see it as a negative)—I see it as a benefit. Every faction in this game has something that is better than the other factions: U.S. tanks are—in most instances—better than their Japanese counterparts. Many Soviet SMG’s have a much higher fire rate than their German competitors. The list goes on. The point is this, having perfect balance between all the factions would be extremely boring. What would be the point in playing different factions if everything was the same? Furthermore, these differences between factions forces you to employ different strategies and tactics in order to win—in other words, it makes you use your brain (if you choose to).
In addition, if it takes one extra bullet to kill somebody with armor, it’s not really a big deal now is it? Most weapons in this game have a fairly fast fire rate, so that extra bullet is going to hit pretty fast. The way you’re talking about this makes it seem like there’s a 5 second lag time between each bullet. If this were the case, then I would probably agree with you. But, it isn’t. And, a 10% damage reduction really isn’t that much: For example, a fully modded MP 40 does 7 damage at 10 meters. With a 10% reduction, it still does 6.3 damage per bullet. That’s still a 2-hit kill—unless somebody has extra vitality (which makes it a 3-hit kill). Again, with the speeds that these bullets are flying, it’s not really an issue. A fully modded MP 40 shoots that 570 rpm. So for me, I really don’t see the issue here.

Its fun and games when soviets got something unique, but when ever GE has something unique soviets just has to get theyr equal or better counterpart.
Except while its perfectly fine to compare things 1on1 based on stats here on forums, with 100% accuracy.
That happens relatively rarely in the game. Just due to dispersion the 100% accuracy is impossible to get every time.

Did you ever consider that the developers may have stopped working on the game because they’re just tired of listening to these “nitpicky” complaints?
Well, I guess another reason I don’t see a problem is because I play all four factions. I’m not biased by playing only one faction.
Why would the developers want to spend their time constantly changing things in regard to these “non issues” when the end result will always be the same: people will still continue to complain? It’s a waste of time.

The issue is: Soviets just demolish Germans on foot. Having ‘assymetrical balance’ by having ‘one nation has OP infantry’ and ‘other nation has OP vehicles’ just means the former is pain in the ass to play vehicles and latter is pain in the ass to play infantry - which is even worse given that you have vehicle limit. And Soviets, by all means, just outclass german infantry equipment in BR5. On BR3 not only they outclass their infantry but also their vehicles. On BR2 they would be pretty close if not for the existance of body armor
Everyone with basic coginitive ability runs vitality. All those calculations are done while taking vitality into account.
Fully upgraded PPs-43 shoots at 800 RPM. Thats 35% increase and it also 3 shots, just as MP40 against armored opponents.
Its literally just removing 10% reduction from a cosmetic so that weapon balance doesn’t go right out the window. The thing is that Soviets are already strong on BR2, BR3 and BR5. Body armor just amplifies that. Having it removed would still make Soviets one of the strongest nations on those BRs - just not disgustingly overpowered

Nah, I’m aware of all of this—I just don’t think it’s a big deal. You people are too sensitive to things that are very small issues. Like I said before, each faction has its strengths and weaknesses. It’s up to you to change your strategy and tactics accordingly; unfortunately, the player base is mostly concerned about k/d and nothing else—and it shows during battles when nobody bothers to cap (thus sealing their fate for the team—a loss). It also shows in the forum when people are losing their minds over a 2-bullet kill vs. a 3-bullet kill. At 500 RPM to 800 RPM it really doesn’t matter. It basically comes down to who has more skill & who has the faster reaction time.
