Enlisted customisation currently includes officer’s peaked caps for the following nations:
Britain/Commonwealth
Germany
USSR
Japan
The United States had less distinct officer uniforms with rank mainly shown by smaller insignia, sometimes on helmet.
All of the nations in Enlisted lack officer-appropriate uniforms and it looks silly having men in regular infantry kit running around with peaked caps.
I therefore propose that the devs add proper officer uniforms to the game.
THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR AN OFFICER CLASS.
This is merely adding proper uniform options to the free customisation/appearance menu.
I would also suggest adding the U.S peaked cap for option for American pilot squads (USAAF did commonly wear them).
Some sources online say that some American officers did wear their peaked caps at times in combat but it was uncommon (usually standard M1 helmet instead), though I dont see the harm in allowing players to give American officers peaked caps if so desired.
I would note that there are many people here likely more familiar than me with specific ranks and designs for all the nations so I’d encourage your input.
I would assume Captain for example would be a fair universal rank to base all faction officer uniforms on.
One of the reasons the Americans in real life did not use distinct officer uniforms like Germany or UK was so that they could not be easily picked out by snipers (and helmet gave more protection). British officers often did wear their Brodie helmet (with officer uniform) if directly under fire.
Now, in Enlisted that concern could apply but its ultimately up to individual players whether they wish to make use of officer uniforms or not. Many players equip peaked caps so clearly some are interested.
Note: If you personally dont think its wise giving a soldier a specific officer uniform, thats fine, JUST DONT USE IT YOURSELF.
That is NOT a valid argument against my suggestion.

This is one of the famous pictures of WWII, where we see a Soviet officer uniform and a German officer uniform back on.

This is something like what many people think of when they think of German officer uniform.

German officer uniform, desert war.

German officers in North Africa.

Australian army officers, 1944. Note the Sam Browne belt and ribbon bars.

Australian army officer, I believe this picture was taken in Vietnam but our officer uniforms didnt really change much.

These are “Captain Mainwaring” from the TV show Dad’s Army. Now he is a Home Guard British officer but I would imagine some aspects of the uniform remained the same for regular army.

British desert uniform as seen in the movie Ice Cold in Alex.

Alec Guinness in the Bridge on the River Kwai. Note that he is a POW so in combat would likely have Sam Browne belt with revolver.

Soviet officer uniforms WWII.

WWII Japanese officer uniforms.

American officer uniforms. The tunics could be added [open to discussion on that] I mainly point out the peaked caps.
I decided not to include a picture of the USAAF peaked cap because the photographs online differ wildly (some are squashed due to age, some altered by personal preference) but I think most people know what they look like.
