I often find that the pathfinding of the ai takes strange routes, especially when I’m in a trench or in a house. They often jump out of the trench or leave the house and reenter when moving from room to room.
Needless to say, this often gets them killed, which is why I suggest either a command to force them to stay inside buildings/trenches or to never allow pathfinding that leaves just to reenter.

It’s something they are working on but it takes time, it’s slowly getting better each patch as they tweak it.
I would “simply” priorize the moving points for the AI - like in Brothers in Arms. So the AI knows where are the safe spots. Open field has prio 3. Trenches, houses and covers have prio 1. In Brothers in Arms this works very well.
