I’ve begun to get into several campaigns that I previously hadn’t sunk much time into, and realize how useful the MGs on top would be if you could fire them separately from the main MGs. Especially when it comes to alternating between the two in order to alleviate the reloading and overheat issues.
(Especially on the Axis tanks where overheat is rampant, the Italian tanks of Tunisia and Japanese tanks of Pacific that have incredibly short MG mags for their tanks.
It works for me on PC with ‘free look’ button - you’ll lose control of tank cannons and hull mgs, but pintle-mounted commander mg should still be usable.

there are some tanks that are bugged but in most of the pressing the freelook button (C by default) gives you the ability to point and shoot the top machinegun individually, i personally use it for airplanes trying to strafe
I would still like the option as I still need the turret pointing in that direction.
