If we exclude vehicles, a starting/f2p player can have only 3 squads and he has to play all of them during a match. This simply ensures that players will gravitate torwards the most universal, most meta squads.
So the game is kind of “”"""“forcing”""""" players to choose the best things instead of what they would really want.
By adding 4th slot we can give the players an opportunity to use not only the most meta shit avalable to them but also some more situational/fun squads.
If you wonder, this is outside of the discusion about giving f2p players more squad slots.
This is a stand alone idea.
My biggest issue is that I dont have enough slots to upgrade all my new squads in time
Here’s my situation:
I was playing 3 squads to upgrade them (assaulter 2, anti-tank 2, radiomen 2)
I recently unlocked assaulter 3 squad but I still didn’t upgrade my assaulters 2 to be 5-star rank while both anti-tank and radiomen squad are bellow level 10.
This means that I have to left 1 squad to upgrade them later
The problem is when all these unupgraded squads stack up, you get an army of stock soldiers which cant use good perks, sidearms, pouches and their weapons cant be upgraded to max level
I am 2 battles away from getting sniper 3 squad but other squads im using are still not upgraded and I am not good with snipers so my only option is to not even try the new squad and keep upgraded current squads.
i was more thinking about having the 4th slot as a option to choose if we want that 4th slot to be vehicle squads like it is right now, or just put in infantry, this would be far better unlike the current system, where we’re forced to equip 3 infantry squads and 1 tank squads, and players like me almost never play tanks or airplanes
F2P players and paid players both get to run more meta squads.
Honestly I would only be for this if there were restrictions to how many of a squad type you could bring. Such as: if you have 4 or even 5 slots, no more than 2 of them can be assaulters (or whichever squad type).
Not trying to get off-topic, but increasing the capabilities of the less used squads to put their value on par with the meta squads would help this issue. Then you could have your extra squads and not need to worry about how many extra meta squads are getting piled on.
You have to rotate 3 squads so the 4th meta squad doesn’t add anything you don’t have already. If you want to spawn with meta squad, you already have one avalable at all times with 3 squads.
So adding 4th is a waste of slot that could be used for more situational squad. Sure, it probably will also be close to meta but at least not the meta.
I’m talking about the people that run meta assault squads, but have an alt squad thats the same setup but with different grenades. This is what I am referring to.
Killing meta will just create new meta. It sounds nice to limit assaulter/plane spam, but this gives less options to what people want to play, and is so easy to get around, just get flame/mg/assault squad, they are meta on most campaigns.
If someone want to have 9 man phosphorus spam squad, nothing is gonna stop them.
I see 4th free squad slot for infantry as more diverse cancer, now we have same old boring cancer, at least give me some variety man.
You have Your 3 good squads, and now can easly try out that mortar or radio squad that sits at level 1.
There will always be spam with 3 slots, once You level all squads You will use the ones You like most, most people like xp so they will play meta.
4th slot is a chance they get a support squad, 3 or 4 assault squads make no difference
It stil changes next to nothing. If they run all the time with meta, does it matter if it’s meta+A or meta+B?
The ammount of meta squads on the battlefield won’t change in this scenario.
WELL why the fk not. You already have to choose between plane / tank why not choose not to have neither.

Take my preferred moscow for example, past year the tanker slot has been relatively useless for krauts if there has been certain end level soviet tanks around. Even tho things got better lately in that section.
Dont really see how it would change anything to any direction as u can already have 3 assaulters.
Besides, if limited in such way. We can use teh moscow yet again as example of certain other faction has the full-auto rifles for all soldiers while the other faction doesnt.
I get what @61839981 is saying, they could have a assaulter 4 squad with maybe more AT gear to fight tanks while the other 3 squads are meta against infantry such as 3 frag grenades per guy
