Well, just saw another way too much scummy thing. In the last open alpha (Berlin) when they first introduced the Academy system, it was possible to upgrade soldiers without the need to lvl them to max in order to be able to "combine them. This very much go against the very inception of how the Academy system is there for, that is the means of upgrading your soldiers increasing the number of perks they can have & second is the no need to do the whole lvling up with every soldier gained from the lootbox system (Logistics).
This very much confirms the gap for “pay for convenience” with the supposedly “premium account” or whatever they are willing to call it. This mean there are 2 systems that free players have to suffer greatly for in order to use that are essential power up systems (lvling individual soldiers & increasing their max lvl “Academy”), this could be rightfully just called a pay to win disguised as pay for convenience.
This very much need to be answered by one of the developers to move on (answering why they changed it to this compared to the open alpha or how the system first introduced more importantly!), or just revert it to how the masses first interacted with it.
i mean, i think the accademy it’s supposed to prevent player’s having super soldiers with multiple perks, insthead, it’s gonna take 3 soldiers, for an upper level. surely this will increase grinding, but will prevent from having too many soldiers with stars. and it’s gonna give you a little " trouble " when you are missing 3 soldiers to make one stronger.
but maybe that is just me. let me think what do you think about it.
Well, a 3 perks soldier is better than 2 & a 2 one is better than just 1 perk, the cost of upgrading a soldier is that he get his lvl/perk reset, note that there is a limit for the max lvl/perks. Also it is supposedly that the AI is going to behave & respond better with soldier having high lvl/perks.
Quoting you “i think the accademy it’s supposed to prevent player’s having super soldiers with multiple perks”, & “and it’s gonna give you a little " trouble " when you are missing 3 soldiers to make one stronger.” Doesn’t this seems to contradict itself ?, you are saying its aims to prevent players having strong soldiers, while also saying that the idea behind it is to upgrade the soldiers (making them stronger). I’m not trying to pick up a fight with you but rather stating a reality.
The problem now is that in order to get a 2 star/perk soldier, you need 3 one start soldier that are lvled up & unlocked the perk which is grindy as hell, previously in an open test this wasn’t the case you could’ve upgrade them regardless of being lvled up or not.
To read behind the line lets say that to lvl a soldier you need X amount of time, as you need 3 soldiers this is 3 times X, this will only give you one 2 start soldier. Doing the math again in order to get a 3 start soldier you need 3 two start soldier which means 9 times X. 3 start soldier isn’t the max though, in that last open alpha test which they were usually running only for 2 days I was able to get a 4 star soldier that was even lvled up, in fact I managed to get around 4 four start soldier & 7 three start soldiers by the end of those 2 days, now you can calculate, since when you have been testing & how many 2 or 3 star soldiers you have, barely got 2 three star soldiers atm that are lvled up (they are the first ones of each squad this mean they didn’t even reset ones, while in that alpha test they were getting upgraded by the academy left right & center means that I gain way more than it takes for just those 4 stars), the numbers are sickening.
This in relation to that they are planning to monetize it through “premium account” which give literally double to triple the progression (there is a picture of it in one of the posts) just shows you the game between a free player & a paying player, taking into mind that these 2 systems are very essential to the overall game progression & top of all “power up”.
i see, indeed, the accademy could be reworked better in terms of grinding. but the problem that it’s gonna cause, it’s between the people who play daily the game, and people who doesn’t.
this is also a trouble to deal with.
and sorry to say, but as a free to play game i don’t think there are many other options.
i’m more worried about chance of failing to uprgade a weapon, so even more microtransation in logistics, upcomings battle pass, and who else knoes.
I really do not mind having to level soldiers first, as it doesnt take too long. I can generally level up a soldier once every 1-2 matches provided I use that specific soldier a bunch. It encourages to actually play with the class/soldier if you want to make him stronger. It also would counteract any loot box P2W shenanigans as the paying players still would have to level up those soldiers.
I was referring to me down looking your statement, & I apologize, I’m sorry.
This point is irrelevant as any game even a paid one, people who sink in more time would obviously be ahead the problem here is the rate at which a paid player get compared to a free player.
It is really the point that worries me that the design choice & direction is already set & they won’t stray from it. Where ever a lootbox system is found (Logistics in this case) they are bound to sell them in a store.
The problem is the rate compared to the last open alpha test considering that this is an essential system for power up, coupling this with leaked “premium account” bonuses & the percentages noted.
As it sands currently, it just put on more of what you see with war thunder at higher tiers & I’m talking about the “stack vs spaded vehicle”, here it would mean with every earned soldier that soldier has to be played individually & gain kills with it (the AI is extremely poor at doing so) & all of that has to be repeated multiple time (which not the issue) but the time it takes (which is the issue) is long considering the aim to get a single 3 or 4 star soldier.
Personally I average around 60~80 kills a match (just a general average regardless of the mode) & I’m only able to get roughly 2 three start soldiers (these are the first one given that are able to get to 3 stars from the get go) & the third is closely behind, note that I’m playing from Sept 21st, the issue is not with these 3 the issue is getting a 3 star soldier going through the academy upgrades (noting to length). Compare that to what I mentioned above about the open test (Berlin) which was only for 2 days & the amount of soldiers I ended up with & at which stars (not mentioning the lvled 2 stars & ones).
The easiest way or the most sensible at the moment is to remove the restriction of having to have the soldiers maxly lvled in order to get an upgraded one, as this will put these 2 case more in line as you could say I achieved those numbers due to the context being different, this more or less to better verify the difference & to see if it’s grind as hell or considerably acceptable.
personally most perks arent too broken other than +100% ammo and +200% health on medkits. The +100% stamina one is nice but only adds more sprint, which does not help you in combat, while the other ones come into play only after you won combat. It is a slippery slope, yes, but the perks arent too strong right now and there is no way to directly pay for a fully leveled soldier right now.
Confused as to how you’re maxing your soldiers without levelling them up, are you saying there’s an exploit? Because if there is, it would probably be best go alert the Devs to it
I was not talking about the perks the exp gained for squads, soldiers, campaign & other stuff those were sat at +100% to 200% + some other conveniences unlocked that were available by default in the last open test.
I’m referring to the “last open alpha test” that was on Berlin, basically its the same principle as this one (in fact the system was first introduced back then) with a difference that to lvl up a soldier (going from 1 start to 2) you didn’t need the 3 max lvled to upgrade.
I like the perks right now yes, there’s nothing game breaking about them, the ammo perk is my favorite. Basically a must have for the SMG class in order to sustain fire and mow down full squads.
I haven’t gotten there yet sadly, I made the mistake of unlocking the plane then wasting an entire day playing it, I really enjoyed it, however it’s pretty difficult to get a decent score with it since bombs don’t do much damage against tanks unless it’s a direct hit
Ok, after few games I just noticed that the rate of exp for soldiers have been notably increased. Now the testing should shift to see if that exp increase does remedy the change from the open alpha (Berlin), still it would be just great to remove it.
