due to the ammo that it carried and the overall gun welded in place,
the sdkfz 251 struggled prior compared to it’s counter parts. with all that added weight,
so it’s normal that the engine " struggles ".
like, not many people realizes that, while the halftrack was supposed to keep up with tanks, it performed extreamely pourly off road.
( which it’s ironic considering what it was supposed to do. but explains why it’s “bad” )
21kmh off road with no ability to pivot really made this thing slug all over the place.
and was best suited for roads.
Not only that. But it can also spin around on its tracks and getting stuck in the silliest of places. Like all those crater holes in Normandy. Seriously those maps need a serious rework, it feels so Beta-ish. I need my half-track APCs so they don’t get stuck in trenches or tree stumps. Even driving over sand dunes it’s like they’re made out of concrete. All those things force the player to drive in a straight line and negate any type of flanking maneuver. It only rewards campers overlooking the main roads, (which are already stuck with carcasses of other vehicles)
everything with an engine and wheels or tracks in the games is ‘weak’ enlisted tanks can get stuck on train tracks rocks candy wrappers and the curvature of the earth
I usually agree with you, but this apc really is pathetic going up slight inclines, and when it doesn’t make the incline the ground becomes like ice and you go sliding and twirling with no control. It definitely needs a slight tweak in performance. Not asking for it to be fast and agile but it should be able to make it up little slopes without issues as the maps aren’t flat and have small inclines everywhere.
nope there the right speed for map size, sorry but if the tanks any faster you could just run away from infantry. so however faster you make tanks you need to make infantry
