So I like the mechanic of having to choose between differing perks - such as a dual rifle capability, or a backpack which can then provide additional ammo pouches in “personnel upgrades.” Another instance of this mechanic would be when you have to choose between something like an AT gunner vs a Sniper in “Squad upgrades,” or a Machine Gunner vs an Assaulter.
Problem is, we have no idea how well these weapons would perform if we haven’t unlocked them yet. Maybe that is part of the ‘adventure,’ but for me, I’d like to be able to test out the AT gun ordinance (as an example) before I commit to restricting my squad’s future capabilities to that soldier class; because let’s face it - some nations have much more effective AT ordinance than others. If I have the chance to try it beforehand, then that means I will be best able to optimize the progressive upgrade flow of each individual squad unit right now, which for me at least improves my experience of achievement and the feeling of personal growth within the game - because I’m now able to tailor my teams to do what they can do best.
Perhaps something like this could be accommodated by the “Practice” mode, which would be temporarily activated through the Logistics “more detailed” screen, and only for that particular (currently unavailable) squadron.
I don’t mind the mutually-exclusive aspect of this, and having to choose is part of the fun, but I would just like to be able to make more of an informed choice than I am now - especially early-on when you are faced with these options in a relatively new campaign squad.
Thanks!
