After many, many games of Stukas and Ju-188s going 100-0 I can’t help but ask: will AA ever get buffed or will planes ever get nerfed?
It can’t be right that I just spent a whole round trying to take down a single stuka with my engineer squad - the AA is way too slow, unresponsive, only 10 rounds and has an insanely long reload time.
Before anyone says “get good” - I was putting all 10 shots onto the Stuka and it was damaged but would still bomb my every AA gun to oblivion.
Often the game basically planes just looking for defenseless tanks and AA guns to bomb.
AA guns should:
have much more ammo than 40 (if not simply infinite);
have much faster fire rate, rotation and reload speed.
Planes should:
i agree the AA guns should fire faster and have more ammo but if we get something like the Oerlikon or the M45 Quadmount then planes should stay as they are cause those turrets will tear them to shreds if planes are nerfed again even the 20mm Flak Gun fires faster then the AA gun we have atm…
If I’m not wrong, they had 20 irl while in the game they have 10. Changing it to 20 is already a double. No need for 40 or infinite.
Faster fire rate ye, reload don’t really care (since you want to have mag buff^) Rotation? Nah. You know where the plane is coming from since the rearmament spot is in one place. You also hear them coming. And they have to fly in a straight line to bomb. It’s already easy to hit a plane as an AA, don’t make it easier.
Please no. Sure the planes have over buffed hp but just slightly. 50% decrease? You want to bring back the “every soldier is a walking AA gun” back? Something like 10%/20% perhaps.
Just let us order a bot to control the AA, make it accurate at shooting planes and not follow the squad. No one wants to sit around waiting for a plane half the match.
Oh man, someone who actually knows what they’re talking about on here for once.

I can agree to ammo buff, but I think only to 16.

Also agreed. a slightly faster fire rate should help with DPS which is another reason I say 16 rounds. Reload is fine, and rotation comes down to skill and predictions so I say that’s fine as well.

Another truth. I tend to fly a lot and it was infuriating getting shot down by a stray AI bullet that just so happened to hit a flap. However, I will also say that nowadays I tend to stay in the air a little too long even with my entire plane being deep orange/red. So a slight HP nerf of 10% sounds right as well.
In conclusion, the combination of Ammo and fire rate buff alongside a slight nerf to plane HP should be enough to put AA in a better spot against Air. May have to reduce its downward angle a bit tho to compensate in order to prevent it from being too good against infantry.
Don’t get me wrong I don’t want to make flting completely unfun but as of now Stukas are having a field day bombing my AA guns, my AA guns don’t do nearly enough damage and the rotation speed is so slow there’s no way to follow the plane passing you.
I dont even use the AA guns, i have shot down numerous planes that get too ballsy flying low with just small arms. Pretty much all gunners can shoot down planes easily with their LMG’s.
yea, just reduce its anti infantry power and give it more ammo, would be enough I guess.
I gotta confess, i kinda liked shooting down planes with MG’s tho, was super unrealistic wrecking an IL-2 with just a simple burst of my mg34, still fun.
Maybe there is something that can be done to make aircrafts fit better into the game, cuz right now its just simply dropping your bombs without having to fear fire from below.
Yet if we turn planes into glass canons again, then it will turn into: " spawn-drop-bomb-wait 10 seconds-press suicide"
