Please take a look at the effectiveness of AA guns. I have tried several times to take down planes using these things and they just don’t seem to do much.
I have had very close head on shots at planes and the best I was able to do is damage them. In return the tracer signature from my AA gun gives them a perfect marker to where I am so bombs and rockets can take you out pretty quick.
Also give us more ammo to use with these things … they just need some love if you want them used to counter the air threats.

I don’t think the problem comes from the AA guns per say… Rather, it’s the planes models that are broken. Theres plenty of videos out there showing players using fighters unloading THEIR WHOLE SUPPLY OF AMMUNITION into bomber planes PROPELLERS/ENGINES and yet, those buggers still fly around like if nothing happened, merily carrying their more than annoying load on the heads of those below. Bomber planes are now bullet sponges, it’s ridiculous. It wasn’t bad enough than most bomb suicide spam already…

In a fighter you shoulden’t aim centre mass on bombers. There is only the pilot on a steelchair. Aim for engines under the wings. Works fine for me, but taking down planes needs a big xp increase. Won’t help with the AA much tho. They need a sight especialy in lone fighter where you only have the circle indicating where the gun aims eventualy.
That’s… already what I wrote? You see ppl shooting at propellers/engines and except a bit of smoke (that stops eventually) the bomber will still fly fine… It shouldn’t.

Depends on the aircraft. Some like the P-38 are famous for taking bad beatings, even loose one engine and still be able to fly for some time. Smoke doesen’t even mean the engine is completly down. It could just loose oil or fuel. Anything but burning is survivable (well except important stuff like controls get hit). Even burning isn’t always the end. If you build enough speed you might get the flames out.
I hit an airplane with a 45MM HE round from an anti-tank gun and it just flew off just fine.

You should have used AP round. HE didn’t pen.
Especially on the biplane.
Like I’ve said before, all AA guns need is one lucky hit to down a plane. But that’s a whole bag of RNG.
At the same time, I’m not gonna say no to 50 cals and 20mm cannons having their damage output increased so they actually decimate what they are hitting.
Also, planes have historically been proven to survive a lot of shit and still fly.
AA guns used to work fine about what … 1 month or maybe 2 months ago … Ya could build an aa gun if you spawned with the engineer squad if you even had that squad and then once you got the aa gun up you could shoot down a plane if you knew what you were doing but then it became much harder to do so which is the way it is now … so difficult that it is pointless to even build aa now.
They need to sell a premium squad with shoulder fired anti plane rockets.
irrelevant in a game where FG42s are standard issue.

Because everyone knows that it is more realistic for AA to not have a sight, but just a circle that limits which way you can look as well! AA is close to worthless against planes. Oh, if you sit in an AA waiting for enemy planes (you can’t turn to look faster than the swivel of the gun. Ridiculous! Also, you will get the kicked for inactivity warning, even if you shot down three planes from that location!
But historically they weren’t refilled 2500 meters from combat zone airborne, so I guess a 1-2 shot kill is a decent deal. Assume that easy-to-refill plane represents a squadron of planes, then my AA gun represents 5-6 turrets so it was like 10 hits already.
I always enjoy what people cherry pick for “muh realism”
German mains: M2 carbine wasn’t in normandy! That’s not historical!
also german mains: Making the starter rifle for US the M1 Garand would be totally ubalanced. okay look this isn’t a simulator okay…geez. balance>realism.

more ammo would help alot both in magazine and in reserve, still, how about use it agaist infantry if it is full of bullets to do so.
choices
choices.
there where real situations that a AA gun got 10000 bullets, that is logical it will be OP. but there where cases of that in WWII whit that ammount of ammo, belive me.
The target is fun gameplay, with as much realism as possible/necessary. As devs don’t exactly implement all our crazy ideas by next day, we’re just banging our heads into the same walls again and again. And come up with a lot of different ways to solve the assumed problems. I guess some of these ideas are already silently tried out by devs just nobody noticed, and they enjoy reading our comments, “look they still didn’t notice it’s so since a month”.
But you’re right, I’ve just sacrificed my wish for realism here, so I must go & build some AA & git gud.
I never said they shouldn’t go down faster than they do now. The opposite, I’ve said several times that 50 cals and cannons(AA has practically cannons as armament) should do more damage. Ergo, faster plane kills.
What I did say is that planes historically have survived a lot of shit and still came out on top. Two separate things.
i think the major issue right now is that planes seem unable to get parts shot of…at least any major ones
in WT a couple of 20mm hits will blow wings and tails clean of
