For now AA guns are used as anti infantry guns, which is kinda annoying (on some maps it becomes a sh!tshow with 2 AA-guns one opposite another in the long corridor). I think vertical angles should be adjusted to not allow it to shoot at 0 degrees angle to horizon
Or maybe increase reward for shooting down planes and make AA actually useful in it’s intended role?

This if one of that things that is just op and can’t be balanced. We don’t want “battlefield/cod style” solutions like 20mm rounds dealing 14 hp damage to soldiers.
Well, there’s nothing wrong with 20mm being used against infantry, I think there’s only a problem when it’s abused indoors in these chokepoints where they can just mow down infantry unfairly. It also just makes no sense and looks disgusting for these huge ass 20mm Flak 38 guns to be indoors the way they are. Just like wha-??
If anything, they could implement smaller single cannon 20mm cannons like the Flak 30 that can be built indoors instead. While restricting the huge ass Flak 38 to only be buildable outdoors.
Yeah - building inside buildings is the main problem I have wit them.
But also their invulnerability - they can be operated by just 1 person, whereas it should take and entire squad to do it, most of whom would be standing around handling ammo, etc, and be able to be shot - and doing so should decrease their rate of fire.
That’s something else that I have a problem with too actually. Like irl you’d definitely need more people to man these huge ass 20mm guns. Yet, a single person can do all the handling on his own? Yeah, that’s a bit ridiculous there. It’d be pretty neat though if the positions of the gun needed to be more realistically maned in order for the gun to function at full capacity. That’d give the gunner more to worry about as they would also need to consider their troops being shot and killed on the gun.
But also I’d love if the damn hitboxes for the front shields of the flak gun were fixed. There have been so many times where my bullet should hit the gunner’s head on the Flak 38. But instead, it hits the invisible hitbox of the front shield and I get mowed down by the gunner afterward. If these things were worked on for the AA guns perhaps they wouldn’t be such a pain to deal with when they’re placed indoors. Or it’d at least help them be a bit more counterable in these instances.
Ah, now that I can get behind. Indoor flak cannons (and also AT cannons, actually) are quite ridiculous, unless the gun sticks out the building. Imagine shooting a freaking cannon indoors in real life. It should be quite bad for your health…
I imagine trying to restrict them to outdoor areas could be quite tricky and lead to some nasty surprises but it’s a worthy endeavour.
But for now we should be content with the armour on these things getting fixed. That should have happened a long time ago, already.
my complaint they have unlimited ammo just like the mg 34 that’s mounted in bunkers at Normandy no reload just overheating

Just make them one shot planes and increase rewards for taking down planes (it should be more points than taking out tanks, not less), engineers will then focus on taking down planes with them instead of infantry.
i think a better idea would be that it needs 4 meters of clearance, so you cant build one inside a house or next to a tree
It’s not that common to see in game tbh. I personally love doing this on certain maps and granted engineers can be really strong but it’s not exactly broken and I would hate to see them get nerfed into irrelevancy.
Just flank, use a tank on it if it’s outside, snipe the soldier manning it or use TNT or AT gun on it. If it’s holding down a corridor you can build stuff to get in the way of the shot like a tank trap. They have very long reload cycles too.
They would need to massively increase the turret speed and fix plane damage models to make them useful for that. I have tried to kill planes with AA and it’s really difficult + they see you shooting at them and they then drop a few bombs and squad wipe you most of the time if you miss.
It could use being faster but that’s not the main problem, the issue is that planes can tank a few shots before going down.
I have actually made a squad member (bot) enter the aa gun at the same time as me, but most of the time they try to destroy it when i give that order.
Im not sure if that is true or not, but i had a feeling that the aa gun rotated faster when it was operated by 2 crew…
So i guess it is work in progress and / or a bug that the bots dosnt enter the AA guns with you.
Yup planes damage models are ridiculous atm.
I hope that’s one of the things they fix when they nerf CAS and drastically increase rewards for shooting down planes.
I don’t understand how exactly we are supposed to get xp rank up our fighter pilot II pilots otherwise as they can’t ground strike and they can barely kill 1 bomber most of the time.
